PHYSICS INVESTIGATORY PROJECT ON

ALTERNATE SWITCHING OF LEDS USING A RELAY

In  this  circuit,  we  demonstrate  the  use  of  relay  as  a  switch.  To  control  an  ordinary  switch,  one  needs  to  mechanically  do  work  to  make  it  ON/OFF.  Imagine  what  if  we  can  control  the  switching  acFon  using  voltage  (supply).  The  relay  is  an  electromagneFc  switch  and  a  perfect  example  how  we  can  use  the  electromagneFc  force  to  switching  acFon  of  any  switch.

The  system  is  composed  of  a  relay,  two  LEDs  and  two  9V  baNeries.  When  no  external  supply  is  given  to  the  relay,  the  LED  connected  to  its  NC  terminal  glows.  However,  when  the  supply  is  given,  the  LED  connected  to  the  NO  terminal  glows  and  the  LED  connected  to  the  NC  terminal  gets  OFF.
