instructors for this course Melissa Frost and Megan Watkins. They will team teach this course.
Physical Science: Is the study of two branches of science chemistry and physics.
● This year in Physical Science you will be learning:
1st Nine Weeks -- Matter: 2nd Nine Weeks -- Motion and Force
Chapter 2: Properties of Matter Chapter 11: Motion
Chapter 3: States of Matter Chapter 12: Forces and Motion
Chapter 5: Atoms/Periodic Table Chapter 13: Forces in Fluids
3rd Nine Weeks: Work and Energy 4th Nine Weeks: Electromagnetism
Chapter 14: Work, Power,& Machines Chapter 18: The EMS Spectrum
Chapter 15: Energy Chapter 19: Optics
Chapter 17: Mechanical Waves Chapter 20/21: Electricity/Magnetism
*This course will feature the four pillars of learning:

*Students will expect to abide by the classroom norms that will be established the first week of school.
*Students will become good listeners by practicing the SOLAR technique: When someone is talking the listener will:
1. Be silent
2. Orient themselves toward the speaker
3. Listen to the speaker
4. Affirm what the speaker has said verbally or nonverbally
5. Reflect respectively on what the speaker has shared.
Weekly Schedule
1. Tuesdays and Thursday will be lab days, whenever possible. 2. Work assigned on Mondays will be due Wednesdays, work assigned on Wednesdays will be due
Fridays, and work assigned on Fridays will be due Mondays 3. Learning Cycles will be on Mondays, whenever possible. 4. Chapter/Unit Tests will be on Fridays, whenever possible. 5. After this weeks’ lab experiments you will be conducting a long term investigation that will be due
Thursday October 26th and will be scored as a project.
Grading Policy Class Assignments will be assigned to categories with differing weights.
*All assignments regardless of category are able to be “fixed-up” and resubmitted for additional points.
*The deadline for resubmission is anytime before the next chapter/unit test.

Four Point Grading Scale -- All Class Assignments/Tests will be scored using a four point scale.
*Four point rubrics measure the learning on a four point scale. * The four points measure the degree in which the learning objective was met. *This is the standard rubric by which all assignments will be graded.
