Question-- then why bother to conserve energy?

all forms of energy can be converted to other forms (mechanical, heat, chemical, electric, electromagnetic, and nuclear)example: the chemical energy from the gas in a

car changes into mechanical and heat energy as the car moves.

example: plants convert electromagnetic energy (light) to chemical energy (sugar) with photosynthesis

often KE will be converted into PE and vice-versa

Energy Conversion ExampleWhat energy transformations must happen to

light a light bulb?mechanical energy from the water in a river moves a

turbine in a dam that makes…electrical energy in the light bulb that changes to…heat energy and light energy that we can see and feel.
