Front Cover photos

This is one of the images i might use for my front cover. I have decided to use this image because it displays a lot of emotions and attitude. This also appeals to teenagers as the front cover models are teenagers who are acting and dressed like teenagers. The models display a lot of anger in this image. This is known as "teen angst" which many teens have nowadays. I have used a white backdrop so it easier to manipulate.

This is another image I might use for my front cover. this image is of the singer of Right Hook Ruin. I might use this image because the main focus is of the singer of the band. I have deliberately placed the model on the right hand side of the image so it follows the rule of left thirds and eye flow. The model has a look of angst and attitude in her eyes. This image will appeal to teenagers because the model is in fact a teenager.

This is another image I might use for my front cover. I have chosen this image because it fits the left third rule and eye flow rule. It also features the drummer and singer of my feature band, who are teenagers. This will appeal to my target audience of teenagers because it relates to them. Both models have a look of angst and attitude about them and are both swearing at the camera which shows the idea of "teenage rebellion" This picture may prove difficult when working with it because the backdrop is quite dark and isn't white like the other images i have chosen.

I have decided to use this image on my table of contents because it is an image of Right Hook Ruin. The image has lots of colour which will attract my target audience. I have also used it because it has a lot of “movement” and appeals to my target audience as it shows teenagers having fun

I have decided to use this image of the singer of Zico Chain because they are a British grungy band like Right Hook Ruin. This will appeal to fans of both bands as they are of similar music genres. It is also an interesting photo and resembles photos that are in music magazines such as kerrang.

I have decided to use this image because it features the music magazine in the background along with other music magazines. The image is of a teenage girl dressed in alternative clothing. This will appeal to my target audience. When editing this photo I have adjusted the brightness and contrast so that the colours are brighter and stand out more. This image will also appeal to people who read kerrang magazine.

I have used this image because it was taken at a party which will appeal to my target audience of teenagers. I will use this image with an article about how to stay safe at parties. Although this isn’t music related I feel that teenagers will still purchase the magazine to read about this article.

I have decided to use this image because it’s brightly coloured which will attract my target audience I have made it brightly coloured by adjusting the brightness and contrast. The image is also of a teenager with dyed hair, and piercings which represents teenage angst and rebellion.

I have decided to use this image because it’s quite an artsy photo which will attract artsy people to read the magazine. The image is also of a teenager which will appeal to my target audience.

Double Page Spread photos

This is one of the images I am considering to use for my Double Page Spread (DPS) I have decided to use this image because I feel it would fit better on a DPS rather than a contents page or front cover. My featured band for my magazine is Right Hook Ruin. These are 2 members from the band so I feel the image would be appropriate for my DPS. The image is full of attitude and shows the band for who they really are. Without having to write anything about the band we already get an understanding that the members of the band are girls. The way they are posing shows the typical teen attitude.

This is one of the images I want to use for my Double Page Spread. I chose this image because it’s a simple image that shows the band for who they are with their look of attitude about them. In this image you can still sense the attitude in the models eyes. The fact that one of the models is looking away, also shows attitude and angst. This is also a reason why I cant use the image as a front cover image.

This is one of the images I am considering to use for my Double Page Spread (DPS) I have decided to use this image because it is a clear image of the lead singer and it shows her attitude. This image is focused on the lead singer, I might use this image as my DPS image because it just focuses on the lead singer of the band which is the most important member of the band

I have decided to maybe use this as my DPS image because it shows the drummer of the band and I’ve taken the photo in an artsy way. I want my image to go across the A3 page for my DPS so this image would be perfect to use as it’s a landscape shot.

I have adjusted the lighting of the image by clicking enhance, adjust lighting, shadows and highlights. This allows me to increase or decrease the shadows in the image.

I have altered the shadows and highlights by decreasing the lighten shadows to zero. This makes the image a lot darker and sharper. I increase the midtone contrast to about 30% This adjusts the contrast and makes the image professional.

Photoshop TechniquesI have used auto levels to avoid human error. The computer looks at the image and adjusts the levels to what it sees fit.

I have used auto contrast because it allows the computer to calculate how much contrast should be added to the image rather than if I add the contrast and alter the image and increase or decrease the contrast levels by too much

I have made a new layer for my photo filter. I have chosen the filter in orange, black and a yellowy green colour. These filters colourize the image, and you can increase or decrease the percentage to make the image more colourized. I use orange because it give the models a natural glow. I use black because when I increase this specific colour, it drains all the colour from the image enough to make it look professional. I use the yellowy green filter because it adds a natural glow like the orange filter.
