Unit G321 – Foundation Portfolio in Media – Photo- shoot Plan Name: Lucas Kirkland Candidate Number: 1159 Project title: This font style is bold and eye catching to the reader asserting a, to the point message. It has a rough cartoon feel to it, which reflects the carefree attitude many followers of indie rock have. Additionally it does vaguely look like the font of my chosen magazine “Rolling stones”. The Verbal code tempo connotes the fast paced ever-changing world of music and as a magazine it is a duty to keep readership up to date with the latest information about music. Project: Project Description: This will be the first issue of my Indie rock magazine and it will mirror my magazine of research ‘rolling stones magazine’. For my main task I must create a front cover, contents page and double page spread for my Indie rock magazine. I would like my magazine to be 16 pages long, as it is similar to the amount of pages found in my magazine of inspiration. I will sell magazine at a price of £4.50 as this is what my surveys have told me. However there may be market competition so therefore I may have to drop my magazine to £3.00. In order to beat all other completion I need make sure that my content is at its best. I will be competing with other magazines, which are similar in genre. For example NME is my biggest rival as it is very popular. NME prices its magazines generally at the £5.00 mark, therefore by pricing my magazine lower I am perhaps appealing more to an audience. Project Description:

This will be the first issue of my Indie rock magazine and it will mirror my magazine of research ‘rolling stones magazine’. For my main task I must create a front cover, contents page and double page spread for my Indie rock magazine. I would like my magazine to be 16 pages long, as it is similar to the amount of pages found in my magazine of inspiration. Photographer:

• I will be the photographer and will plan and research all the pictures I will take of the models. I would like to take full responsibility of being the creator of the magazine this included taking the photos that will be residing in it. By taking the images myself I am insuring that I will get exactly what I am want. For example the specific camera angles I would like for the double page spread

• I would like a medium long shot to portray the upper part of my artist’s body. I would like the angle to be tilted from a low angle to denote the dominant stage presence of my artist and the dominating effect they have over their followers

• I would like high key lighting as it will clearly show my artists facial expression and the colors of their clothes

• I would like to edit the photos taken to enhance the look and professionally of my magazine

These images inspired the kind of photography I would like to feature in my magazine. Black and white image of the smiths is very interesting and could be recreated in my magazine of

choice. Furthermore the style of double page spread is very cool and reflects my chosen magazine “Rolling stones magazine”.

Casting:

Pictures (Close-Up Head Shots and Full-Length) of potential people you will use for the shoot.

I would like to use Charlie and Jon from my media class as models for my magazine as they dress and have the image that is suitable for my target audience. Furthermore we all play instruments and could use this as an advantage when taking photos. Both of the models dress in clothes that suit them well and suit my sub genre of music. This makes it easier to pick out an outfit for the photo shoot.

Model

requirements:

This is a picture of Jon, one of my main models who will be featured in my magazine heavily. He fits into the rock and roll demographic.

My models are very well suited for the needs of my magazine. Both Charlie and Jon look allot older than they are and would pull of the overall image of a rocker. Charlie especially will be perfect for this photo shoot as he is very tall and I can achieve the full-length photograph at a low angle I talked about. Both of these models play an instrument and I would like to features these two with their instruments as it gives the magazine a more realistic feel. In addiction both of the models wear indie clothes, this is perfect for me a I don't have to tell them what to wear.

Wardrobe and Look:

A typical Indie rocker would have an effortless look about them. I would like this to be reflected in my two models wardrobe choice. Graphic teas and skinny jeans would be essential. This would fit the stereotype that comes with my sub genre very well.

Hair and Make up:

I would like My models to have messy hair as it denotes the carefree attitude of a indie rocker. Make up would not be needed, as it would not be suitable for my sub genre of music.

Where:

This photography will take place at Jon’s house with instruments and a simple Backdrop for photos.

When:

4th of October 96 Roseberry road Epsom
