Our main focus in boot development has always been to bring new technologyand material offerings to the sport of XC skiing; to be able to deliver high techrace and touring products with high comfort and stability values that can beused in various conditions.

• MemBrain® fabric balances the best performance in waterproof,breathable fabric with excellent durability.

• MemBrain® reduces internal condensation while increasing comfortby reducing the chilling effect caused by condensation build-up.

• When used with insulated garments, MemBrain® protects theinsulation from harsh weather conditions to make sure that yourfeet stay warm and dry.

We who work at Madshus believe in winters to come, and thereforewe try to do what we can to contribute to snowfall around the world.

We realize that our Nordic Ski boots will never be 100% sustainable, but webelieve that by using high performing sustainable materials, we can make adifference and help create a cleaner planet for our children.

In one year Madshus has completely eliminated PVC's from our Classic TouringEco Nordic Family, and we will continue to research different sustainablematerials that we plan to utilize across our product line to help “Save ourPlanet, One Nordic Boot At A Time”.

Here is what Madshus has done in our 2009 product line to reduce our carbonboot print:

1. Created sustainable Leather BC line2. Maximized the use of recycled PET in Nordic touring boots3. Utilized recycled PET Mesh's for the Liners4. Built uppers around a recycled lasting board5. Reduced overall waste with Eco Packaging

The PET revolution: What Is PET?

The start to developing a sustainable upper starts with recycled PET thread.What is PET you may ask? PET, the abbreviation for Polyethylen-terephthalat, isa fully recyclable plastic that is now used for manufacturing new products. PET isfound in water bottles, soda, pop bottles, detergents, cosmetics as well as otheritems known as post consumer PET (and designated with a recycle triangle withthe number 1 in it). The primary material in Madshus' Eco skiboot uppers is PET,and we use it in many different ways to help create a cleaner planet and at thesame time produce the world's best skiboots.

Traditional No-wax patterned skis are designedfor a broad range of temperatures, and promote the sport ofCross Country skiing as a fun and maintenance free sport.They have been found to be most successful in warmertemperatures from -6C and warmer.

Here at MADSHUS we have seen many different solutionsto this over our 103 years in this business. Our historyallows us to remember or look back at test results formany different ideas or products that have been designed,encountered or used.

Many wax technicians have resorted to an old techniquemade famous in the 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid called"Hairies" for those difficult wax days - wet, falling snow andchanging snow temperatures. However this has been a bitof a mystery as to when it really works and for how long.

While MADSHUS can look back at history we arealways looking forward in design and application.This is where we have now designed ski modelsfeaturing MADSHUS Zero Classic IntelliGrip (Zero).

MADSHUS Zero CIG skis feature an inserted base materialin the grip area of a classic ski. This material is then factoryprepared with special sanding techniques which providegrip on snow and slush without the use of wax, whiletaking some of the mystery out of the equation.

In the race world they have become known asMADSHUS ZERO's, as the world cup wax techniciansfound them to be an advantage over waxed skis, just asthey did back in the 1980 Olympics. It was only when wetested them where they were thought not to work,that we discovered their versatility.To everyone's surprise they worked in all conditions andhave become a true advantage over many wax andwaxless products out there.

MADSHUS Zero CIG skis deliver great kick and a moreenjoyable skiing experience in a wide range of conditions,and holding true to their originally intended application ofwhen waxing is tricky.
