BIOGRAPHY

ALBERT ZUGER

Albert Zuger found blacksmithing and metalworking after moving to Kansas at 15. He left Kansas for Brooklyn at 18, driving his 1950 Ford F3 straight to the Pratt Institute parking lot. Zuger trained as a sculptor at Pratt, spending endless nights at the metal shop honing the skills and techniques that define his approach to the work.

Albert considers his jewelry to be wearable sculpture. Each piece is hand-crafted and testifies to the connection between metal and man. First, between the artist and the material that defines his design, and second between the body and the finished piece.

Albert Zuger takes a great deal of inspiration from antiquity. Bold and enchanting his pieces would be at home on the bodies of ancient Etruscans, Scythians, and kings of Gaul.

SHARD

The Shard Collection evokes

raw and elemental shapes

extracted from deep within

the earth. In each piece, a group

of hammered metal shards

come together with wild and

dramatic spontaneity.

Shard necklaces have a wild, elemental appearance, made up of many shard pieces strung together on strands of durable kangaroo leather lacing. The necklaces have their own subtle movement when worn, as the shards shift slightly against each other and reflect light in all directions. Necklaces are available in gold-plated brass or silver, a statement piece in either material.

Shard earrings are available in silver or gold and can be worn on a gold ear wire, or with a straight post with butterfly backing. Single or double shard earrings are available. Earring posts and ear wires are made of 14k gold.

The Shard bracelet brings unexpected drama to the wrist. Comprised of shard pieces woven onto durable kangaroo leather lace, it allows for an haute couture look in comfort. These statement pieces can be matched to a necklace to create a set or worn on their own. Available in gold-plated brass, silver, and precious metals (special order).

WEDGE

The wedge collection is made of

hand-hammered pieces designed

to sit flat. Depending on the

desired texture, the pieces

are cut and hammered, with

different shaped hammers

create a variety of textures in

either silver or gold.

The necklaces in the Wedge collection have larger individual wedge segments which are bent to curve around the metal cord that encircles the wearer’s neck. The wedge segments sit flat, like a collar. Available in silver or gold, with pebbled or rippled finish.

Albert uses meteorites collected from all over the world in their raw state. Coupling unique meteorite fragments with hand forged 14k gold fittings, the pendants warm to the temperature of their wearer and reference the mysteries of outer space.

My ringthe beginning

Albert’s involvement with jewelry began with a wedding— his own. He wanted a ring that was strong but delicate, and looked to Japanese sword making and jewelry of the ancient world for inspiration. By folding layers and layers of different steel alloys, Albert forged a textured iron exterior that he set into a carefully wrought gold lining.

SashaMonel & Gold

Sasha spent the last decade sailing the Caribbean seas and wanted his ring to subtly reference his oceanic adventures. Monel is an industrial nickel alloy used for corrosion resistant parts in the marine industry and pairs well with 18k gold. Tough but tailored, this ring is a testament to the potential beauty of materials with strength.

Kyle Meteorite Bloom Iron

The steel in Kyle’s ring is comprised of meteorites forged together with bloom iron by Albert in his studio. There is something radical about fusing material from outer space with earthly iron-age metal into a subtle symbol of human commitment—past, present, and future.
