Have you ever just sat around thinking and had some questions pop in your mind? I do it all the time! Here are some questions I have had or have found that I think are pretty good… Why do you drive on a parkway and park in a driveway? Why does a round pizza come in a square box? Can you cry under water? Once you're in heaven, do you get stuck wearing the clothes you were buried in for eternity? (If so, I choose to be buried in my seersucker pants.) Why is it that people say they "slept like a baby" when babies wake up all night long? Why is the alphabet in that order? Is it because of the song? If you drink Pepsi at work in the Coke factory, will they fire you? If the police arrest a mime, do they tell him he has the right to remain silent? If you're in a vehicle going the speed of light, what happens when you turn on the headlights? Why are you IN a movie, but you are ON TV?
Oh, the things I think about! These are all great
questions, but they hold no eternal
value. However, there is one question of eternal value that, to
me, is just as silly as those above. It is: “If we are a follower of
Jesus, then why don’t we make Him our #1 priority?”
Over the last few months, we
looked at the subject of Spiritual Disciplines. Spiritual Disciplines are
practices we impose on ourselves to make us spiritually fit or
healthy. We focused on how we
need to add the Spiritual Disciplines into our life so we can be
“conformed to His image.” Adding Bible Study, Prayer, Worship,
Fasting, and Submission into our life is beneficial not only here on earth,
but also in eternity.
In our lives, we can control how close we allow ourselves to get to
God. We limit God’s activity in our life by not making Him a priority. By
implementing the Spiritual
disciplines, we can do what Paul told Timothy to do. “discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness.” 1 Timothy 4:7 NAS
Paul is encouraging Timothy to
live in such a way that those who oppose his message and his work
will see God through him. I want to encourage you to do the same. Live
with Power! Live with Boldness! Live in daily intimacy
with Christ! That way you are living for today, but also preparing for eternity. UPCOMING EVENT EMPHASIS: Homecoming is September
16th. We are so excited to have Rev. Ernest Ferrell coming back to Robbins
First Baptist to deliver our
Homecoming message. Rev. Ferrell pastored Robbins First Baptist from
1991-2003. The ministry the Lord gave him while he was here is still
being felt today! I know each of you who were members during his time as
pastor have fond memories of he and
his precious wife and are looking forward to having him back with us
again. OCC Shoebox Collection begins
Sunday, September 23. What a great
missions opportunity this is for every church. I hope each family will do the
same number of shoeboxes they did last year plus 1! That way we exceed
the number we did last year. Ladies, I want to encourage you to
plan to attend the Bloom Women’s
Conference our church is hosting on October 26th - 27th. This will be a
great time for worship, study, and fellowship. Churches from all across
our association and community have
been invited. Will you invite someone? Will you make it a point to
bring someone with you? Please do! I know you will be richly blessed.
May the Lord bless you this month
as you seek to serve Him!
The Adult Choir will resume rehearsals on Wednesdays following the Bible Study. We will resume on Wednesday, September 12. Each rehearsal will begin at 7:50 and conclude at 8:40 pm. Join us as we begin preparations for each Sunday morning worship service and
the Christmas season. Also, the children will rehearse on Sunday
evenings during Blast in the Choir room.
Song lyrics of the month: Lauren Daigle’s “You Say”
This humbling gospel ballad heals listeners and assures them of a victory over their struggles if they put their trust in the right hands.
It’s a blessing to serve a
mighty God. He continues to work wonders in our congregation. Recently, I had the blessing to dedicate a baby whose parents have been coming to our church for the last few months. I praise the Lord for their desire to take a step of faith. In addition, my wife and I have been encouraging the congregation to spend some time through fellowship after Wednesday service and on Sunday mornings before Sunday school.
On Sunday August 26 three persons re-dedicated their lives during altar call. On Saturday September 22nd, we will have a community-wide immigration informational event. Three consultants from the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina will be sharing about the rights of the individuals. We are grateful to the Lord for the ways that He has touched the lives of people in our congregation. Pastor: Ernesto Robledo, D. Min.
Pastor: Ernesto Robledo, D. Min.
Summertime is over and it went by too fast! I hope all the students, teachers, and
staff had a great first day back. I know some who were not ready and some
that couldn’t wait to get started. We are
praying that our youth fill their schools with love and walk the halls with compassion, looking out for those who
may be left out. We pray that they are the change agent to increase kindness and aren’t afraid to share the gospel
with strangers or even their closest friends. We want them to be noticed as “hey! I want what they have!”
Their greatest witness is how they live their lives right
now because people are watching. We hope we all are a living testimony to God’s goodness and that others see
him in us every day! Please sign up for the
Down on the Farm event by
Sept 15th! This will give us a number of people
wanting to go so we can secure transportation and
Chaperones.
Operation Christmas Child
kicks off this month.
Let’s see how many boxes
we can collect this year!
Church T-shirt information coming soon! In Christ, Casey Galloway
Another Summer is fleeting away and school is suddenly back in session. It’s hard to believe how fast “summer break” went this year, especially for me as a first-time mom with a school aged child. Our summer was filled with so many wonderful memories and relaxing days- reflecting back I cannot help but rejoice over the time I had to enjoy with my kids. Additionally, I feel blessed for all the exciting memories I had with the children of our church. It truly was an awesome Summer. From our Donuts for Dads Father’s Day breakfast, to a fun filled week of VBS, our pool party, and ending with our church lock in! Who knew Summer Mack and I could still hang till 2 and 3 am! It has been a blast playing with the children and making unforgettable memories. Thank you to all the parents who shared their children with us for all of these fun moments and events. Looking ahead, I am excited about 2 things: Fall weather and our Fall events here at RFBC! The season always brings about a certain feeling of freshness as the air gets crisper in the mornings and the leaves begin to change. I welcome this freshness, just as I welcome us starting back with BLAST again on Sunday nights (beginning September 9th) and planning our 3rd Annual Fall Festival Trunk or Treat! Mark your calendars for Wednesday October 24th for this event … More information coming soon! Again, thank you to all the parents and to our church family who make our children’s program a success.

I keep fighting voices in my mind that say I’m not enough Every single lie that tells me I will never measure up Am I more than just the sum of every high and every low? Remind me once again just who I am, because I need to know
You say I am loved when I can’t feel a thing You say I am strong when I think I am weak You say I am held when I am falling short When I don’t belong, oh You say that I am Yours And I believe, oh I believe What You say of me, I believe
The only thing that matters now is everything You think of me In You I find my worth, in You I find my identity
