*The Funds Transfer Scheme (FTS) may be offered where we are
satisfied that the funds are from a
genuine source but we require assurances
that the money will reach New Zealand.
There is no guarantee that students will obtain ongoing work while they are studying in New Zealand. This is why INZ assesses financial viability thoroughly in the visa application.
Students who do not have sufficient funds to support their stay in New Zealand pose a greater risk of breaching the conditions of their visa, becoming unlawful in New Zealand or becoming victims of exploitation.
Funds Requirement Why are these documents required?
We want to ensure that students have a positive study experience in New Zealand and we appreciate the support of agents and providers to ensure that recruitment efforts are directed towards students who can genuinely afford to study and live in New Zealand.
Funds Requirement Why are these documents required?
• It clearly and concisely outlines:
Study plan

Work history
English language level
Financial information
One Page Summary What’s so good about this?
Managing Expectations Some students may have unrealistic
expectations of securing employment and visas after they study.
Education providers and agents play an important part in managing the students’ expectations.
Although there are pathways to work and residence for some students, it is important students understand that there is no guarantee. Advisers are expected to ensure that students are aware of this.
Remember that the main priority while holding a student visa is to study not work
Even if the visa allows the student to work, there is no guarantee that they will obtain work in New Zealand. This is the reason why students need to have enough money to support themselves in New Zealand.
Please ensure students are aware of their New Zealand employment rights, including minimum wage www.employment.govt.nz
Immigration instructions are reviewed from time to time and any future applications will be assessed against the instructions which are applicable at the time they apply for a subsequent visa.

CHANGES TO INZ’S GLOBAL FOOTPRINT
The Visa Services 2020 Programme was mobilised in 2017 to enable INZ to become a customer centric organisation that is efficient and responsive.
The Programme encompasses a range of significant business change initiatives divided across three work streams:
• Alignment & Consolidation – rationalisation of the global visa processing footprint
• Technology – implementation of enabling functionality and platforms to support INZ move progressively into a digital world
• Simplification - streamlining current processes to ensure we can deliver an efficient and cost effective visa processing model
Consolidate INZ’s global processing footprint across fewer sites.
Deliver a better customer self-serve experience by enabling easy access to the digital channel.
Align processing activities by customer, delivering greater product line accountability for end to end performance.
Narrow the channel offerings accepting only online applications for student, work and visitor applications.
Make it simpler for staff and for customers through targeted business simplification initiatives.
