OVERVIEW WHAT TYPE OF PROJECTS ARE ELIGIBLE? WHO MAY APPLY?

HOW ARE WINNERS SELECTED?

The Philip R. Peller ‘60 Undergraduate Research Awards Program provides funding to support business-related undergraduate research experiences for students in the Business and Economics (CBE), Computer Science and Business (CSB), or Integrated Business and Engineering (IBE) degree programs.

PELLER UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH AWARDS support research expenses that an individual student or team of students incur as they do their own research projects under the guidance of a faculty mentor.

SENIORS may apply for an Independent Research Award for project work in Spring 2016.

JUNIORS may apply for Independent Research Awards for work commencing in either Spring 2016 or Fall 2016.

Peller Independent Research Awards are granted by means of a competitive selection process. Applications are available in the CBE Undergraduate Center. Winners are notified beforethe end of the add/drop period forthe semester in which the award willbe used.

Peller Undergraduate Research Awards are awarded each semester to a select group of original, student-directed projects. A project should either: · Be a scholarly work that extends the understanding of the proposer’s discipline/major

OR · Apply business theory in original ways to solve an unstructured, substantive business problem. Applied projects may include case-related projects, consulting projects, or projects associated with a business-related internship.

Projects may be conducted as: · For-credit as an independent study or · For-credit as an honors thesis or · In conjunction with a summer internship for credit

Projects may be proposed by either juniors or seniors in CBE, CSB, or IBE degree programs. The project may be conducted by an individual or group of students led by a CBE, CSB, or IBE team leader.
