What do monarchs, missionaries and a seamstress have in common? They all gave from the heart for the benefit of future generations – like yours. Learn more about the impact of philanthropy at HawaiiCommunityFoundation.org. In partnership with the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, Hawai‘i Community Foundation will present a story twice a month on local philanthropy that has changed a life, supported a family, or improved our community. The Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children was founded by Queen Kapi‘olani and continues her legacy with a new state-of-the-art facility opening in July 2016. The Honolulu Museum of Art was founded by Anna Rice Cooke, of the missionary Cooke family. A fund to provide scholarship grants to students studying fashion design and sewing was established by Ellen Hamada, a 92-year old seamstress. Philanthropy. IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU.
