• Philanthropy Foundations are investing in initiatives related to community improvement and system change.   

Past and current efforts are producing mixed results.  

Finding that there is a need to have technical expertise to develop community/ foundation identified solutions into a implementable strategy

• Planning

Planners are working with limited resources and scopes of work that can stifled out of the box ideas

Small scale efforts to test ideas or deep provide more extensive community engagement may not developed fully to fruition

IPI Core Goals IPI is charged with finding new solutions to old 

problems by working across public, private and civic sectors.

IPI helps position “HUD as a Hub” for innovation by convening new partners and collaborating across agency, organizational, and international boundaries.

IPI works with two primary sectors – International & Philanthropic.

Goals:

1. RESEARCH:  Generate lessons, evidence, and best practice in housing and community development from the philanthropic and international sectors that can be applied to HUD’s work

2. NETWORKS:  Advance HUD’s capacity and competency to achieve better results through innovation and multi‐sector, multi‐national networks, including leaders in philanthropic, corporate, NGOs, and academic arenas

3. COLLABORATIONS:  Develop collaborations that align ideas, investments, and resources for transformative and sustainable development in partnership with philanthropic and international partners

4. TOOLS & SYSTEMS: Provide the best possible internal and external tools, management systems and processes for delivery of timely, substantive and institution‐building information
