    Information Bulletin [M.Phil and Ph.D. Entrance Test -2010]1. UNIVERSITY... AT A GLANCE

    The University of Saugor later renamed as Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya Sagar of Madhya Pradesh

    was established in July 1946 by the great visionary Dr. Harisingh Gour by his single handed donation, The University

    is one of the prestigious Universities of central India and achieved the Central University status on January 15, 2009.

    Part of a rural and suburban environment in the heart of the country, the university has been a centre of higherlearning. Honorable President of India is its Visitor. Being the sixteenth university of the country and first of the

    state of Madhya Pradesh, the founder and mentor Dr. Gour desired to erect an educational institution for rural and

    deprived population in Central India. The model of education as conceived by the founder is to bring its standard like

    Cambridge and Oxford.

    The University campus spreads over an area of about 2000 acres on the top of hills, surrounded by lush green forests,

    natural and pollution free environment. It testifies the foresight and dream of Dr. Harisingh Gour.

    University has adopted the International mode of education system. Nine schools established under this new

    system offers courses ranging from Natural to Physical Sciences, Applied Sciences and Technology, Law, Business,

    Applied Geology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, Music and Performing Arts.

    Nation wide competition through entrance tests for admission in Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Research held at

    different corners of the country have been attracting young talents. The nine schools with more than 36 independentdepartments, credit and grade based CBCS educational system, the university offers undergraduate and post graduate

    courses in different discipline. University has a privilege of having several department recognized by UGC, DRS,

    DSA, COSIST or CAS.

    There are four hostels for boys and two for girls. University teachers and the officials reside in the university

    campus. Our first Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru laid down the 'foundation stone' of the university library in

    1952 and the Library was named after his name. This library has a collection of more than four lacks books with

    electronic and internet facility.

    There are excellent museums in the teaching departments of Applied Geology, Ancient Indian History,

    Anthropology, Zoology and a Botanical Garden, recognized by the BGCI Kew, U.K.

    The University has its own water supply system. The health centre of the University is rendering valuable clinical

    services to the students and residents of the campus. The University has its own printing press, Bank, Post Office,Telephone Exchange, Employment and Guidance bureau in the campus. The University has an auditorium for indoor

    games and university playground for outdoor games, as well as an ultra-modern well-equipped and furnished

    "Golden Jubilee Hall" with a seating capacity of 750 for cultural and academic activities.

    The University has various centers for developmental activities such as Academic Staff College, Central

    Instrumentation laboratory, a Centre of Indira Gandhi Open University (IGNOU), Educational Multimedia Research

    Centre (EMMRC), Population and Research Centre of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Manuscriptology

    Research Centre of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

    Several alumni of the University have brought great glory by distinguishing themselves in their chosen fields both

    within and outside the country. More than twenty five of its students and teachers have been Vice Chancellor of

    different Indian Universities including D.G.GSI, Government of India. This university has also produced a number of

    top ranking television and Cine artists.

    Sagar city is well connected by bus and trains situated about 200 km away from Jhansi (U.P.) and Bhopal

    (M.P.) (between Bina-Katni section of Central Railway). Thus the university provides an excellent academic

    atmosphere to the youth with a vision of a world class university after the status of Central University.

    Dr. H.S. Gour University invites applications for admission to M.Phil. and Ph.D.

    programme in various subjects. The University would conduct Entrance test for the admission in

    M.Phil and Ph.D. Course as perthe new guide lines given by U.G.C.-2009.

    1. M.Phil :- The candidates those who could not get seat in Ph.D. or interested to do M.Phil.

    only may be considered through entrance test for PhD. The allotment would be on the basis of

    merit only.

    QUALIFICATIONS:- Atleast 55% marks in Post-Graduate for General category and 50%

    Marks for SC/ST & PC Category.

    AGE LIMIT:- 28 years as on date of application (relaxation of 5 years for SC, ST & PC

    Category)

    MASTER OF PHILOSOPHY PROGRAMS

    Master of Philosophy (M. Phil) Degree Program is offered by many departments of the University.

    The minimum duration for completion of M.Phil in a discipline is two semesters and the

    maximum duration is four semester.

    The M. Phil Degree is awarded if a student has

    Registered, undergone and secured the required minimum number of credits for the core and

    elective courses including Dissertation specified in the corresponding program within the

    stipulated time ;

    Secured the required attendance;

    No dues to the University, Hostel or Library;

    No disciplinary action pending against him/her.

    1.1 Structure of the Program

    The M.Phil Program consist of :

    Core Courses which are mandatory for all students.

    Elective courses which students can choose from amongst the courses offered within the department or in

    other departments of the University or in other Approved Institutions.

    Dissertation (Mandatory)

    The distribution of credits will be as below:

    i) Core Courses Minimum two courses carrying 5 credits each (10 or more credits )

    ii) Electives carrying 5 credits each No minimum

    iii) Dissertation 21 Credits.

    The total number of credits for core and electives shall be 15. Within this broad framework

    different M.Phil. programs may prescribe and adopt one of the following two patterns :

    2 core courses (10 credits) plus one elective (5 credits)

    3 core courses (15 credits)

    The research topic for the dissertation may be finalized even at the beginning of the M.Phil

    Program, so that the collection of relevant literature and research design could be completed

    in the First semester leaving the entire Second Semester for the research work. The course

    registration for dissertation shall be in the First semester and a separate registration form shallbe used for Registration.

    The departmental committee will specify the credits for core courses (includingdissertation and Viva-Voce) but the minimum will be 36 credits.

    1.2 Regulations of M. Phil Program

    The rules and regulations governing course registration, attendance and discipline of

    students for M. Phil. Program shall be the same as for the Masters Program of the university.

    2. Ph.D. Course: The admission to Ph.D. Course would be given by the following methods

    . 1. Direct admission

    2. Through Entrance Test and followed by interview

    2.1 Direct Admission :- A candidate who fulfils one of the following requirements may be

    considered for direct admission to the Ph.D. programme on supernumerary basis without

    appearing in the CRET.

    (i) A candidate who is qualified in a national-level test such as National Eligibility Test

    (NET), Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE),

    (ii) A candidate who is a recipient of National Doctoral Fellowship or other fellowships

    from government/semi-government organization such as Council of Scientific and

    Industrial Research(CSIR), University Grants Commission (UGC), All India Council

    for Technical Education (AICTE), Department of Science and Technology (DST),

    Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Department of Atomic

    Energy (DAE), Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Indian Council of Agricultural

    Research (ICAR), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Aurveda Yoga Unani

    Siddha Homeopathy (AYUSH) and similar national-level organizations.

    (iii) A candidate who is selected under Quality Improvement Program (QIP) of AICTE,

    Faculty Development Programme (FDP) of a State Government or of UGC.

    (iv) A candidate who is sponsored as a full-time candidate by any other university

    institution/college/government department/public sector undertaking/ R&D

    organization, who is relieved on study leave for a period of not less than 4 years for

    pursuing Ph.D. programme in a Department/ School of the University.

    (v) A foreign national who is a recipient of fellowship by Indian Council for Cultural

    Relations (ICCR), Government of India and who is sponsored by his/her government.

    (vi) A self-financing foreign national who is admitted through the Embassies/High

    commission of his/her country after getting approval from the Ministry of External

    Affairs and no objection certificate from the Department of Education, Ministry of

    Human Resources Development, Government of India or admitted under an MoU.

    (vii) A candidate who is already registered as a Ph.D. scholar in some other university and

    whose supervisor joins this University.

    (viii) A candidate who is sponsored as a part-time candidate by a non-degree awarding

    institution/government department/public sector undertaking/R & D organization. who

    shall work for his/her Ph.D in his/her parent organization fulfilling the residency

    period requirement prescribed in the relevant ordinances. The candidate is required to

    submit a sponsorship and work experience certificate from the parent organization.

    The non-degree awarding institutions, government departments, public sector

    undertakings, R & D organizations are only those, which are recognized as centers of

    research by the University as specified in the Ordinances.

    (ix) Teachers/Govt. Servants will be permitted to pursue Ph. D. Program with

    necessary eligibility and qualifications subject to the permission and requisite

    leave (Minimum Three Years) from their parent department for the period of

    Ph. D. Program.

    (x) The candidates having M.Phil/M.Tech degree (admitted by Entrance Test and

    Passed through CBCS) with marks not less than 60% or 6.0 CPI shall be directly

    admitted to Ph.D. program subject to a successful oral presentation at the

    meeting/interview/viva-voce conducted for such a purpose by the DPGC and approved

    by APC afterward. The candidate(s) must be in possession of Minimum Specified

    marks/grade point at the Masters Degree

    3 RESERVATION :-15 % of the total number of available seats shall be reserved for SC candidates ; 27% for

    OBC (Non-creamy Layer) candidates; 7.5% for ST candidates and 3% for Physically

    Challenged (PC) candidates ( within each categoryon Horizontal basis): Visually Impaired (1%)

    + Hearing Impaired (1%) + Orthopaedically Handicapped (1%).

    The PC candidates (V.I.) must have studied in the Schools for Blind students or Integrated

    Schools for Disabled persons. They will have to submit a Disability Certificate issued by the

    District CMO with the Application Form. Such candidates eligible for counseling will be

    examined by a Medical Board constituted by Sagar University and if necessary, will be referred

    by the Medical Board to other recognized bodies for the purpose, as per criteria fixed by the

    University.

    The following are empowered to issue the certificate :

    (a)District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate/Collector/Deputy Commissioner/ Addl.Deputy Commissioner/Deputy Collector/Ist Class Stipendiary Magistrate/City

    Magistrate/Sub-Divisional Magistrate/Taluka Magistrate/Executive Magistrate/ Extra

    Assistant Commissioner.

    (b)Chief Presidency Magistrate/Addl. Chief Presidency Magistrate/Presidency Magistrate.

    (c)Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar.(d)Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate and/ or his family normally

    resides.(e)Administrator/Secretary to the Administrator/Development Officer(Lakshadweep Islands)

    Candidates must note that certificate from any other person/authority shall not be accepted in anycase. Further, General category includes all candidates other than those belonging to SC or ST. if

    the candidate happens to belong to SC or ST, His/her caste/tribe must be listed in the appropriateGovt. of India schedule, The caste Certificate should be in the Govt. approved format and should

    clearly state: (a) Name of his/her caste/tribe(b) whether he/she belongs to SC/ST (c) District and

    the State or Union Territory of his/her ordinary residence and (d) the appropriate Govt. of India

    Schedule under which his/her caste/tribe is approved by it as SC or ST.

    GENERAL NOTES:

    (i) Notwithstanding anything contained in the Ordinances, the eligibility requirements forthe purpose of admission shall be only those which are mentioned in the information

    Bulletin of the academic session concerned.

    (ii) All Ph.D Scholars shall be governed by the Ph.D. Ordinances.(iii) No full-time Ph.D. scholar shall accept during the period of research any paid

    assignment apart from Research Fellowships, Research Assistantships, Senior

    Resident ship/Service Senior Resident ship etc.

    (iv) A Ph.D. scholar shall not be permitted to join any other degree course, however,he/she may be permitted to join part-time Diploma or Certificate Course(s) as perprovisions made under the relevant Ordinances.

    4 ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSIONS

    Masters Degree in the subject with 55% of marks in aggregate or equivalent grade pointsaverage in qualifying examination. There shall bea relaxation of 5% marks(or equivalent grade

    point average ) for SC/ST and PC candidates .

    5 Procedure for Conduct of Entrance Examination

    5.1 Structure of the Test :- For Entrance Examination there would be two papers i.e. Paper I and

    Paper II. Paper I would be of General Aptitude test of 100 marks and Paper II would be Subject

    wise/Faculty wise of 100 marks.

    Paper I : General Aptitude Test which will have 100 questions with multiplechoice covering

    Logical Reasoning, Numerical Ability, Reasoning and Language Aptitude.

    Standard of passing : Candidates who score 50% and more will be declared as passed (45% for

    reserved category). The list of successful candidates in Paper I will be declared faculty wise and

    such candidates will be held eligible for Paper II.General Aptitude Test score will be valid permanently to appear for Paper II.

    Paper 2 Subject Specific Test: This paper will be also of 100 marks.

    4. There is no provision to provide or permit a 'writer' in the Entrance Test except for blindcandidates who will be provided "writers" on request.

    5. The Candidates shall be checked for any resource materials frequently and at random by theinvigilators and other staff conducting the Test, routinely and also on the slightest doubt.

    6. Calculators/watch calculators, electronic diary, pager, mobile phones, earphones, alarmclock digital watches with memory, slide rule, etc. are not allowed in the examination hall.

    Also carrying of licensed weapon, fire arms, tools which can be used as lethal weapons arenot allowed in the examination hall.

    7. Any of the following actions by a candidate shall disqualify him/her to take the EntranceTest. and the result of his/her Entrance Test shall be cancelled and he/she will also be

    debarred from future Entrance Tests of the University.(a)Tampering with the Admit Card including that of the photograph.(b)(i) Not occupying the allotted seat.

    (ii) Tampering/disturbing the seating arrangements.

    (c)Relevant or irrelevant resource material or loose paper found on his/herPossesion or, lying on or around his/her seat.

    (d)Smuggling-out or smuggling-in Question Booklet in part or in full, or Testmaterial, or any resource material connected with the test.

    (e)Making any attempt to influence the University authorities directly or indirectly.(f) Using unfair means during the Test. The malpractice and unfair means shall

    include :

    Possession of any unauthorized instrument or equipment (mentionedabove)/document paper/information materials or any resource materials.

    Communication of information in writing or verbally or exchange ofquestion Booklet/Answer sheets to and from any other person during the

    Test period and any other malpractice amounting to obtaining undueadvantage.

    Disturbing or trying to disturb the Entrance Test.

    Carrying of the envelope of the Admit Card and Seating plan into the

    examination hall. Any alterations or corrections in the entries made by a candidate in

    Question Booklet and OMR Sheet (Roll Number in words & figures and

    OMR Sheet no. in Question Booklet and Roll Number, Question Bookletno. and Set no. (if any) in OMR sheet) but not duly verified by the

    invigilator concerned.

    Non- matching of signature made at the time of Entrance Test with thatalready done at the time of filling of Application Form.

    Face not resembling the photograph on the Registration form and theAdmit Card.

    Noting down the question or their answers.

    Shouting of slogans or creating unruly scene at the examination

    hall/examination centre/University campus.

    8. Impersonation is a legally punishable offence. No Candidate will be permitted toappear in the Test without a valid Admit Card. The Admit Card should be presented to the

    invigilators/other authorized officials for verification. The candidate's identity will be

    verified in respect of his/her details on the Admit Card/Registration Form. If the identity is

    in doubt, the candidate may not be allowed to appear in the Test. The authorities may at

    their discretion provisionally permit the candidate to appear in the Test after completing

    formalities including taking of thumb impression/several signatures for further

    verification. No extra time will be granted for these formalities to be completed. Similarly,

    at the time of Subjective Test/Personal Interview and admission, the candidate's identity

    will be verified from the documents available with the University and in case of any

    doubt, his/her admission will be deferred till final verification.

    A person found to impersonate a candidate shall be handed over to the Police under an

    FIR lodged by the University. The candidate in reference shall be debarred from future

    Entrance Tests of the University. A Student or employee of the University if found toimpersonate in the Entrance Test will be respectively rusticated or dismissed from the

    University service.9. Suppression/concealment of information: The candidate must ensure that he/she is

    qualified to appear in the entrance Test. If it is detected at any stage that he/she did notfulfill the minimum qualifications, or, there was something against the candidate which

    would have prevented him/her from being admitted in the concerned subject, or, thecandidate has provided false information or no information about his/her previous

    involvement in an act punishable under law or act of gross misconduct and indiscipline,

    then his/her candidature shall not be considered and his admission if already made shall be

    cancelled at any stage and he shall be debarred from appearing in any of the future

    entrance Test of the University.

    10. Nobody other than the University authorized personnel is permitted to move around theTest venue. Any unauthorized persons loitering around the Test venue shall be handed

    over to the police under an FIR lodged by the University.

    11. No scrutiny/re-evaluation of answer sheet of the Entrance Test is allowed in any case at

    any stage.

    12. The candidate shall be bound by the Sagar University Statutes/Ordinances/Rules and

    Regulations framed from time to time.

    13. Any litigation in respect of the Test shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the local Court of

    Sagar and /or Hon'ble High Court of Judicature at Jabalpur only.

    7. CERTIFICATE REQUIRED FOR RESERVATIONS

    (i) SCHEDULED CASTES/SCHEDULED TRIBES

    Each SC/ST candidate shall have to submit a self attested copy of the Certificate

    mentioning that the candidate belongs to SC/ST community. Such certificates shall be

    subject to verification from the concerned District Magistrate. The following are

    empowered to issue the certificate;

    (a) District Magistrate / Additional District Magistrate / Collector/ Deputy Commissioner /

    Addl Deputy Commissioner / Deputy Collector / Ist Class Stipendiary Magistrate/

    City Magistrate/ Sub-Divisional Magistrate/ Taluka Magistrate / Executive

    Magistrate/ Extra Assistant Commissioner.

    (b) Chief Presidency Magistrate/Addl. Chief Presidency Magistrate/PresidencyMagistrate.

    (c) Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar.

    (d) Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate and/or his family normally

    resides.

    (e) Administrator/Secretary to the Administrator/ Development Officer (Lakshadweep

    India schedule under which his/her caste/tribe is approved by it as SC or ST.

    The candidate should satisfy the minimum eligibility requirement for that

    category.

    (ii) OTHER BACKWARD CLASSES (OBC)

    The candidates belonging to OBC category with Non Creamy Layer (NCL) as

    listed by the Central Govt., must submit the certificate issued by the competent authority.

    The OBC certificate should clearly mention that the candidate belongs to non creamy

    layer (NCL).

    (iii) PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED

    Physically Challenged Candidates: Visually Impaired and/or Hearing Impaired

    and/or Orthopaedically Handicapped (on horizontal reservation basis) candidates, have

    to submit an attested copy of Disability Certificate issued by the District Chief Medical

    Officer/Medical Board.

    8. OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION

    i) Degrees/Certificates recognized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU)/Boards of

    secondary Education, shall only be deemed as equivalent degrees/certificates.

    ii) Application Forms of candidates who have submitted forged/fake certificates oradopted fraudulent means shall be REJECTED. Further, such candidates shall be

    debarred from appearing in any subsequent Entrance Tests conducted by

    Dr.H.S.Gour University, Sagar , and further matter will be reported to Police.

    (iii)Candidates are appearing at the Entrance Tests provisionally. It would be the

    responsibility of the candidate to furnish correct information, as no scrutiny of the

    application forms would be done before entrance test examination. The final

    verification of Mark sheets/Degrees/Certificates, validity of Certificates/Mark sheets of

    Qualifying Examination and also non-involvement in the adoption of unfair means in

    any of the University Examination/Entrance Tests held earlier, will be made at thetime of interview.

    (iv) Mere appearance in the Entrance Test, or securing pass marks at the written Test

    does not entitle candidate to be considered for admission to the Course unless

    he/she fulfils the other eligibility conditions. Applicants must fully satisfy themselves

    about their eligibility as prescribed above, before filling in the application form. It shall

    be the full responsibility of Candidate himself/herself, to thoroughly go

    through the rules / conditions regarding Eligibility, Age limit, caste category,

    selection of subject, choice of exam centre etc. University/Admission Cell will not

    listen/ consider any problem occurred due to negligence/ignorance/ carelessness of

    candidate at any stage. Candidature will immediately be terminated accordingly, if

    found anything otherwise.

    (v) If an applicant is inadvertently allowed to appear at the Entrance Test who otherwise

    does not fulfill the minimum eligibility requirements, he/she shall not be entitled to,

    use that as a right to claim for admission that he/she meets the eligibility

    requirements, at a later date.

    (v)The University reserves the right to cancel/refuse admission at any point of time if it is

    found that: (a) Minimum eligibility requirements are not fulfilled.

    (b) False documentation has been done, or, facts have been suppressed distorted.

    (c) Any other similar valid reason.

    9. ENTRANCE TEST FEEApplication form and other informations can be down loaded from the university

    website.FEE for Entrance Test is Rs.800/- (Rs.: 400/- for SC/ST)

    The Entrance Test fee shall be paid by the candidate through a crossed Demand Draft issued

    by any Nationalized/Scheduled Bank, in favor of: "Registrar, Dr. H.S.Gour V.V. Sagar,

    payable at State Bank of India, Saugar University Branch (1143) , SAGAR (M.P.).

    (i) The applicant is advised to write his/her (a) Name, (b) Name of the Course and (c)

    Course code number on the reverse of the Demand Draft/Banker's Cheque.

    (ii) The Entrance Fee once paid shall neither be refunded nor transferred to another

    course and shall also not be reserved for any subsequent year, in any case.

    (iii) Ensure that DD clearly mentions: (a) Date of issue (b) Name & Code No. of

    issuing branch (c) Name & Code Number of drawer branch (d) Signature of the

    authorized person along with specimen signature number (e) Amount in words and

    figures

    (iv) If the Demand Draft (issued by a Nationalized/Scheduled Bank) is incomplete/incorrectly

    drawn, the candidate will be disqualified unless he/she resubmits the corrected Demand Draftalong with additional fee of Rs. 150/-.

    10 ENTRANCE TEST CENTRES

    The entrance test examination would be conducted at UTD Sagar.

    11. APPLICATION FORM: The candidate should print download the application

    form M.Phil./Ph.D. ET-2010 and send to the concerned Head of departments.

    12.. REJECTION OF APPLICATION FORM AND CANDIDATURE

    (i) Non-submission of hard copy of online filled-in application form alongwith a

    Demand Draft of Rs. 800=00 for those who apply of on line.

    (ii) Absence of signatures of the candidate at the appropriate places in the

    Application Form.

    (iii) Tampering of any kind in the Application Form and/or the supporting documents.

    (iv) Submission of Application Form by a candidate after erasing the entries made

    earlier by another candidate.

    NOTE: If at any stage it is found that the applicant is not eligible for admission in a

    course under University rules, his/her candidature will automatically stand

    cancelled. It will be the responsibility of candidate to go through

    rules seriously & personally. Please note that thorough checking of

    Application Form, Minimum Eligibility requirements, Original

    documents in support of Academic Certificates, Categories claimed

    will be done only at the time of counselling (if called for the same). Atthat stage also the candidature of the applicant will stand cancelled, if

    he/she does not fulfill all requirements for admission.

    13. SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORM

    (i) The completed application form may be submitted to the concerned Head

    of Departments Dr. H.S.Gour University, Sagar (M.P.), 470003 by

    Registered/Speed Post/by hand on or before, 15 October, 2010.

    (ii) In no case applications shall be entertained after the last date is over.

    14. DISPATCH OF ADMIT CARD

    Admission Card bearing Roll No. and Venue of the test Centre, for

    appearing in the Test will be sent by concerned HOD Post to the Mailing address

    of the candidate in stamped (Rs.25/-) envelope (To be submitted by the applicant,

    with Application Form). University shall not be responsible for any delay in

    communication caused due to wrong/incomplete address given by the candidate

    or any delay/loss in postal transit. If a candidate does not receive the Admit Card

    or any communication till a week before the date of the Test, he/she should

    contact the respective Head of the departments on Phone or in person.

    Important: The candidate should carefully examine the Admit Card and all

    the entries made therein. In case of any discrepancy the candidate should inform

    the Center Superintendent immediately.

    DUPLICATE ADMIT CARD: The applicant can obtain duplicate admit card (if

    required) from the Head of the departments, Dr. H.S. Gour university, Sagar; one

    day before the test date (if the card does not reach to candidate even two days

    before the Test dates.). Noadmit card will be issued on the same day of the test.

    Candidates appearing from Sagar Centre may be issued duplicate Admit Card on

    request to be collected from the Head of the departments only on the day

    preceding the concerned Test on production of relevant documentsfor proof

    of identity and a self-attested photograph (identical to that pasted on theApplication Form). In the case of candidates appearing at a Centre other than

    Sagar the candidate should contact the Superintendent of the Test Centre on the

    preceding day of the concerned Test to obtain a duplicate Admit Card on

    production of necessary documents and photograph as stated above.

    Other Information

    (i) In all matters relating to M.Phil./Ph.D Entrance Test and admission torespective Courses, the decision of the University shall be final.

    (ii) Candidate must remain in close/regular contact to the university Website:

    www.dhsgsu.ac.in; where latest updated information will be displayed.

    15 ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS :-

    Course work:

    A research scholar registered will have to pass one year (Two Semesters) course work

    followed by two years research work. The candidate must pass the course with 6.0 CPI

    before taking of Comprehensive Examination and Seminar failing which the

    candidates name will be deleted from the list of registered scholar after giving

    him/her two chances to pass the said course. Maximum time for completing the

    research program will be Five Years including one year extension.

    Ph.D. students with Post Graduate degree:

    Minimum Total Credits = 80

    Credits through course work each semester (Minimum) = 24

    (4 courses X 4 credits = 16 credits through course work + 8 from research work, each

    semester. Total course work credits = 48 in two semesters).

    Credits through Research (Minimum) = 32 (After two semesters).

    Minimum Number of courses = 06

    Minimum Residence = 5 Semesters

    Maximum duration = 5 Years

    1. May include one undergraduate course (permitted by the DPGC).

    2. May register for undergraduate courses as a special case: these courses will be

    deemed to have zero credits.

    3. Add an additional year in case of part-time students.

    A department may prescribe, with prior approval of the APC, additional credits of

    courses/thesis over and above the minimum specified in the above.
