INCIDENT FOR MANUFACTURING OF DRUGS:

•At least 28 children died of renal failure, caused by ingesting the paracetamol syrup and suspension, across the country from June to August of 2009

•A Dhaka court on Sunday granted bail to two Rid Pharmaceuticals Ltd senior officials in a case filed over their production of Paracetamol syrup, which killed at least 28 children in 2009.

•Judge M Atoar Rahman of the Dhaka Drug Court granted them bail on a bond of Tk10,000 after hearing a bail petition submitted by their counsel Md Anwar Zahid Bhuiyan.

•The two senior officials are Rid Pharma Managing Director Mizanur Rahman and Director Sheuli Rahman, who is also his wife.

•Rid Pharma had used diethylene glycol instead of propylene glycol since diethylene glycol costs Tk200 per litre while propylene glycol costs Tk1,100 per litre.
