Founded in 1995, the Prince George

Community Foundation is an independent,

volunteer-driven, charitable organization

that brings together people who care about

their community.

Member of the Community Foundations

of Canada, the Prince George Community

Foundation facilitates philanthropy, by

partnering with donors to build permanent

endowment funds that support community

projects.

The Foundation offers the unique

opportunity to support our community and

to share in shaping its future by pooling

and investing the charitable gift of donors.

Gifts and bequests are accumulated in

a permanent trust fund managed by

a highly skilled team of professionals.

Investment income is allocated carefully

and responsibly to charitable organizations

committed to enhancing the quality of life

in our community.

This generosity and commitment of

our donors over the past years has

provided thousands of dollars in grants

being returned to the community through

the charitable sector of our community

who are involved in the interest fields of

arts and culture, education, environment,

health, social services and sports and

recreation. These grants are the result of

investing in endowment funds where only

the investment income is distributed. We

anticipate that we will near $1 million in

grants very soon.

Annually we seek nominations from

the Community to identify those they

feel have gone above and beyond in

community philanthropy. Whether it be

giving of their time, talent, expertise, or

just being a good advocate, all of these

play a role in making Prince George the

wonderful community it is.

Each year an arms length committee

chooses one outstanding individual to

represent the Foundation and community

as a whole as the Citizen of the Year. Past

recipients have been Horst Sander,

Baljit Sethi, Michael Kerr, Andy Beesley

and a variety of other individuals who

have and do contribute to Prince George

in many ways.

The event draws a crowd of 300 or

more of those in the community that

make things happen. It truly is a great

opportunity for exposure and the

Foundation would be happy to work with

you this year to see that your company

receives the highest possible recognition

for its generous support.

INCOME DISTRIBUTION

GRANTINGThe Prince George Community Foundation

supports a broad range of projects

that encompass one or more of the

following characteristics ; provides a

service to the community, approaches a

community challenge in an innovative

fashion, enhances the physical, mental

and/or emotional health and wellbeing of

members of the community or strengthens

the social, cultural, and/or environmental

structure of the community.

With two granting cycles per year, the

Prince George Community Foundation

focuses on awarding grants to cover

projects that are incremental to an

applicant’s core operations and are carried

out over a specific timeframe. Projects

considered for funding will encompass one

or more of the following themes : Health,

Education, Arts and Culture, Sports and

Recreation, Environment and

Social Services.

Each of our granting and income

distribution receptions draws a crowd

of 100 to 200 people. These receptions

represent another great opportunity for

exposure. I would be happy to work with

you this year and make sure that

every dollar you spend would bring you

recognition.

The Prince George Community Foundation

has been active in making income

distribution to worthy community

organizations since 1996.
