HISTORY OF THE PROGRAM

The 2002 Association of Desk and Derrick Clubs’ Board of Directors (Board) decided that ADDC should go a step beyond just presenting seminars at each year’s convention thus a Tech Certification Task Force Committee (Task Force) was developed to decide the goals of the certification program and guidelines used to reach these goals.

COMMENTS FROM THOSE WHO HAVE COMPLETED THE PROGRAM

Donna Altomari: “Completing the certification program gave me a huge sense of accomplishment. Working in accounting you don’t always see the big picture. I now have a broader understanding of what it takes to run an oil and gas operation from the initial leasing of the property to the marketing of the oil or gas.”

Debbie English: “I’m very proud of my Petroleum Tech Certification, for which I worked very hard. I have it hanging on the wall in my office with my diplomas!”

Doris Burak: “I am grateful to Desk and Derrick and the Certification Committee. I was able to learn a lot through the different certification programs. Having the diploma displayed on the wall in my office certainly has caused many positive conversations and always makes me feel valued and an asset to the company. My boss was very supportive of Desk and Derrick and was impressed that I went the extra mile to pursue these different areas. It sure helps to provide a well rounded career.”

Sue Carscadden: “I am very grateful for the experience of going through the Certification Program and very proud of the Certificate of Completion I received for this accomplishment. It was very helpful going through all the stages involved in this exciting industry and to be able to put all the “pieces” together. I was disappointed at times having to miss some of the great field trips that were offered at the same time, but I would do it all over again. Once I committed to the first session, I set the goal to go through each one and finish what I started. I would encourage all of our members to make this commitment.”

Sheryl Minear (Chairman of the Certification Committee): “I think most of you already know how I feel about this program from past reports. I may be a little prejudiced, but I truly believe the development of this type of educational program was one of the Association’s best decisions; and, of course, without the member support, it would not have been as successful. I encourage each of you to attend at least one program. Even if you don’t want to complete all courses, I think you will find the presentations very informative.”

Maureen McClean: “It appeared to me it took a long time to complete, but I enjoyed each and every subject. The program is all encompassing of the industry. It provided me with information regarding the subjects that were not familiar to me.”
