HISTORY

• What is Chemical?• In chemistry, a chemical substance is a material with a specific chemical

composition.• A common example of a chemical substance is pure water; it has the same

properties and the same ratio of hydrogen to oxygen whether it is isolated from a river or made in a laboratory.

1. Polymer• World's largest producers of polymers.• Our 2009-10 polymer production (Polypropylene, Polyethylene and Polyvinyl

Chloride) is 4,091 kilo tones.

2. Polyester Intermediates• 4th largest producer of Paraxylene (PX), 7th of Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) and 7

th of Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG). • In India, it is the largest manufacturer of polyester intermediates with a market

share of 100 % in some categories. • Reliance is the only producer of PX while there are two PTA and four MEG

producers in India.

• Indian Oil Corporation, is an Indian state-owned oil and gas company

• It is India’s largest commercial enterprise, ranking 105th on the Fortune Global 500
