Grade Level: Middle School Description: This PowerPoint Jeopardy Game is a fun means of reviewing Inyanei Pesach. There are six categories of questions with five questions in each category. Questions cover Yahadus and Halacha pertaining to Chodesh Nissan/Pesach. The level of difficulty ranges from simple to complex. The game includes timers, an option to display answers, music and sound effects. What to download:

Materials Needed:

Computer Instructions:

1. Divide the class into teams. (Up to four teams can play at once.) 2. One member of each team is called up to represent his team. Allow a

student to choose the first question category and amount. (Click on this square.)

3. Pose the question to the team representatives. The representative who buzzes in/hits the desk first gets to answer. (Note: Clicking the screen when a question is displayed will activate a five second timer. Clicking it a second time will reveal the answer.)

4. If the student states the correct answer, manually add the question’s point value to the team’s score. If the answer is incorrect, subtract the question’s point value from the team’s score. Open the question the other teams’ representatives.

5. Return to the game board by clicking the house at the bottom of the screen. Call up a new representative for each team.

6. The player representing the team that answered the previous question correctly chooses the next question.

7. Continue to play Jeopardy until all boxes have been eliminated from the grid.

8. For double Jeopardy, only the team that chooses the question can answer. Team can wager up to as many points as they have BEFORE THE QUESTION IS REVEALED. If they answer correctly, they gain all of those points. If they answer incorrectly, they lose all of those points.

9. For final Jeopardy, each team can bet up to as many points as they have BEFORE QUESTION IS REVEALED. (The topic can be hinted at in advance.) Amount wagered should be handed in on a paper so the other team does not see it. Reveal the question. Each team has 30 seconds to discuss the question and WRITE AN ANSWER TO BE HANDED IN. If the question is answered correctly, the team earns all of the points that they wagered. If the question is not answered correctly, the tea, loses all of those points.

Additional Tips:

Familiarize yourself with the rules and questions as well as the PowerPoint functions. Note, two timers are included; a five second timer that appears in red directly beneath each question and a thirty second timer at the bottom right of the screen.

Note: Although this game features a Jeopardy-style game board it is not played like the traditional Jeopardy game in which the student must state the question for the answer presented and the first team gets to answer all of the questions until they are stumped.

It is best to have designated buzzers to really know who buzzed in first. The contributor recommends buzzers with extenders so groups can remain seated while playing.

Variations: Have students create questions for the jeopardy game using the materials they have accumulated about Pesach. Put all of the questions together into the game and play Jeopardy!
