Choosing a Topic

To begin a persuasive essay, you must first have an opinion on a topic that you want others to share your opinion.

Homework

Research

To be valid, an opinion or point of view must be supported by facts and information.

Once you know what you will write about, you will need to do research on the topic.

Research through interviewing people, or reading newspaper, book, journal, or

Internet articles.

Write your three body paragraphs. Each of your body paragraphs will have one of your arguments supporting your position. This is also a time to refute the opposing view.

Write a conclusion that will leave a lasting impression on the reader.
