PERSONAL RESILIENCE

YES TO ‘ME’

“The greatest difficulty in the world is not for people to accept new ideas, but to make them forget their old ideas!” John Maynard Keynes ‘Are you kidding? I like it here!’

The challenge…for you and me…

Key reflections What do I believe about me (my essence)? Do you believe that you have the power for greatness? Are you committed to you? Do you truly honour yourself? Do you think you deserve success? Do you truly believe that all of life’s gifts are for you –

just for you? What are you paying attention to? What is in

your radar screen? What is it that you focus on? Pay attention to what you pay attention to. Watch the things that you are fighting/resisting? What can we learn about our futures/now and what

engages us by looking at what we ‘fight’ with or for?

Love is a noun and verb

and requires commitment.

Our most significant work

will happen in the home.

Our biggest job as husbands is to confirm – that we are staying. Our job one as women is to affirm. Leave the

socks and dirty towels for the nanny…

Most of our hurts

come through

relationships…so

will our healing.

A great marriage/family is build on our capacity for suffering and difficulty.

This conversation is about creating

a series of defining moments for your life, love,

those you lead and the legacies you will leave.

Just so you know…

There are 66 days left of 2010.

If you want to make minor improvements, work on behaviour and attitudes. If you want to make quantum (significant) improvements, work on paradigms.

Every great breakthrough is a break WITH.

The Idea The Journey The Thinking The Action

Shift from doing to being.

Every glory – has a story.

We need to embrace the

journey.

It is not the magnitude of our…mindset

blindness…but our absence of awareness of it.

Greatness is within.

Everybody yearns for

greatness – we need to

pay the price.

The Agenda

See-Do-Get

The results we GET in life depend on what we DO. What we DO in life depends on how we SEE the world around us.

Honouring your higher purpose Your soul print exists not only within, but also

without – in how your soul touches the world. When you pick a pen…turn a door knob, shake a hand, touch someone’s face, you leave behind an imprint of yourself.

The people and places touched by your soul are imprinted with your mark, with your essence. Everywhere you walk in the world, you leave behind the beautiful, valuable, matchless print of your soul (Gafni 2001).

Memorable quotes

Christopher Gardner: Hey. Don't ever let somebody tell you... You can't do something. Not even me. All right? Christopher: All right. Christopher Gardner: You got a dream... You gotta protect it. People can't do somethin' themselves, they wanna tell you you can't do it. If you want somethin', go get it. Period.

Memorable quotes Christopher: Hey dad, you wanna hear something

funny?

There was a man who was drowning, and a boat came, and the man on the boat said "Do you need help?" and the man said "God will save me".

Then another boat came and he tried to help him, but he said "God will save me", then he drowned and went to Heaven.

Then the man told God, "God, why didn't you save me?" and God said "I sent you two boats, you dummy!"

Leadership is about change. It’s about taking people from where they are now to where they need to be. The best way to get people to venture into the unknown terrain is to make it desirable by taking them there in their imaginations.

Resiliency

“For you to be resilient as a person, your life must be connected to an issue or a desire which is deeply anchored in your heart and then supported by your mind.”

Affirmations - Louise L. Hay "I allow my thoughts to be free. The

past is over. I am at peace." "I am peaceful with all of my

emotions. I love and approve of myself.”

"I rejoice in what I have, and I know that fresh new experiences are always ahead. I greet the new with open arms. I trust life to be wonderful."
