FUNCTIONSThe PerSoft / PDM system is a software packagefor the control of encoders dedicated to the personalization of smart cards and micro modules on film.
It defines a common interface:• between encoders / testers and the handling
equipment computer• between encoders / testers and the product
environment (database, security modules)
This interface is common to all the NBSTechnologies Smart Card Manufacturing cardand film handling or production machines.
FUNCTIONAL SYNOPSIS
• The PerSoft / PDM (Windows® NT) is connected to the Handler PC via TCP / IPEthernet network or RS 232 serial link
• According to the kind of application to process (contact or contactless), the PerSoft package is composed of:> 1,2,4,8,12,16,24,32,64 contact encoders,
each connected to electrical contact heads or;
> 1,2,4,8,12,16,24,32,64 contactless encoders, each connected to an antenna
• Each encoder comprises an additional front card reader which can be used for Security Access Module (S.A.M.), batch production identification and authorization, etc.
• The PerSoft / PDM system periodically listens to the link connecting the PerSoft PC to the handler PC and detects new instructions coming from the Handler controller. These instructions are interpreted and the elementary orders are sent to the dedicated encoders

Parmetric Tests• Open / Short: checks connections
between chip and contacts• Leakage: checks connections between
chip and contacts• Icc Stat: checks if the consumption current
on pin Vcc is lower than the value given inthe data sheet
Functional Tests• Read/Write/Erase: checks whether the
memory can be read/written/erased
Personalization Routine Programming• Personalization routines are written in C
language and are compiled and downloaded to the encoders.
• For developing the personalization routines, two options are possible:
