A. In-Ground Pools shall comply with 2003 International Residential Code & Indiana Amendments, and

the Indiana Residential Pool Code (675 IAC 14-4.3-270 to 675 IAC 14-4.3-296 Swimming Pools).

Inspections Needed: Bonding trench & underslab inspection for plumbing, patio level bonding

inspection, and final inspection once completed.

B. Above-Ground Pools shall comply with 2003 International Residential Code & Indiana Amendments,

and the Indiana Residential Pool Code (675 IAC 14-4.3-270 to 675 IAC 14-4.3-296 Swimming Pools).

Inspections Needed: Electrical/Bonding inspection and final inspection once completed.

C. Bonding requirements per Section E4104: All pumps, pool heaters, gas lines, waterproof lighting, pool

walls each panel, surrounding concrete patios, all couplings for handrails, basketball, volleyball, rebar in

patio will require a bonding inspection.

D. Electrical requirements per Section S4221.1 and/or 2008 National Electric Code & Indiana Amendments

Sections 680 and 680.26: General – Sections E3504.2.2, E3703, E3802.3; In-Use Box, GFI Receptacles

Sections E4103.1.1, E4103.1.3, E4106.2, E4106.3; Pex Tubing wiring chase prohibited per Sections

E3702.3.2, E3702.3.3, Section E3703, E4102.1 & Table E4102.1, E4103.6; Hard-wired pump or plug-in

pump, pool cover pump GFI connection required per Section E4102.2 #3; and, overhead power

conductor/wire 10 feet minimum clearance above swimming and wading pools, diving structures,

observation stands, towers and platforms per Section E4103.5.

E. Pool Deck and Deck Equipment Requirements per the Indiana Residential Pool Code Sections S4212.3,

S4212.14, S4212.15, S4212.16, S4213.3. The foundation footing must bear below the frost line on

undisturbed natural soils or engineered fill. Deck footings can be structural pre-cast if the deck is less

than 400 sf and not within 6’-0” of dwelling or attached to the house and no roof overhead per Sections

R403.1, R403.1.1, R403.1.4, R403.1.4.1, R309.5.1. Deck joists, girders and beam sizes shall be within

allowable support spans and meet minimum bearing requirements per Sections R502.3, R502.3.2,

R502.3.3, R502.5, R502.6, R502.6.1, R502.6.2. Deck framing within 18 inches of grade and girders

within 12 inches of grade must be constructed with approved pressure-treated wood per Sections R319.1,

R319.1.1, R319.1.3, R319.1.4, R319.3. Decks or stairs that are greater than 30 inches above floor or

grade shall be provided with railings per Section R312. All deck connections shall be made to resist

uplift and lateral loads on the deck assembly per Sections R319.3, R407.3, R502.2.1, Table R602.3(1).

Deck roof and ceiling framing should be constructed to comply with Sections R802.2, R802.3, R802.3.1,

R802.3.2, R802.4, R802.5, R802.5.1, R802.6, R802.10, R802.11, R803.1, R902.1, R903.1, R903.2,

R903.2.1, Section R904 & Section R905.

F. Concrete Pool Deck/Patio shall comply with Sections S4212.1, S4212.3, S4212.14, S4212.5 to S4212.16,

S4213.2, S4213.3.

G. When stairs are constructed for the pool, deck or patio, they should comply with Sections R311.5.3,

R312 and Indiana Residential Pool Code Sections S4212.2, S4212.4, S4214.1, S4214.5, S4214.6,

S4214.9, S4214.10.

H. When Ramps are constructed for the deck or patio they should comply with Sections R311.6, R312 and

Indiana Residential Pool Code Section S4212.2.

I. Erosion Control Requirements: no dirt or stockpiling of materials on streets.

J. Sidewalks must be protected from heavy traffic and cracked or damaged sidewalk sections must be

replaced.

K. Pool Fencing requirements are per the Indiana Residential Pool Code and The City of Greenwood

Municipal Code Chapter 10, Sec. 6.05.03 & S4226.3, A-C.

L. Pool Cover requirements are per the Indiana Residential Pool Code Section S4226.3, D.

M. In regards to site location on the proposed pool, deck and/or patio, they cannot be placed in a Drainage

Utility Easement without permission from the Board of Public Works and Safety.

N. Safety Equipment must be provided with a minimum of a ring or throwing buoy, 12 foot pole and access

to a telephone. More may be required depending on pool construction per Section S4226.

O. If the pool installation includes a diving board, it must comply with Section E4104 and/or 2008 National

Electric Code & Indiana Amendments Section 680, 680.26, plus Indiana Residential Pool Code Sections

S4208.3-S4208.5 S2409, S4210, S4214.5, S4215, S4226.

P. If the pool installation includes a slide or play equipment, it shall comply with Section E4104 and/or

2008 National Electric Code & Indiana Amendments Sections 680, 680.26, plus Indiana Residential

Pool Code Sections S4216, S4226.

Erosion and Sediment Control Requirements

1. Sediment and erosion control devices shall be installed and functioning priorto beginning any project earth disturbing activities.

2. All sediment and erosion controls shall be inspected until construction iscomplete, the site is permanently stabilized.

3. All erosion control devices shall be properly maintained during all phases ofconstruction until the completion of all construction activities and all disturbedareas have been permanently stabilized. Additional control devices may berequired during construction in order to control erosion and/or offsitesedimentation. All temporary control devices shall be removed onceconstruction is complete and the site is permanently stabilized.

4. All sediment and erosion control devices shall be inspected once every seven(7) calendar days. Damaged, ineffective, or incorrectly installed devices shallbe repaired or replaced, as necessary, within 48 hours of identification.

5. Stabilization measures shall be initiated as soon as practicable in portions ofthe site where construction activities have temporarily or permanentlyceased, but in no case more than fourteen (14) days after work has ceased.
