My math classes now...Students learn all 5 parts of the mathematical process 1.Create good questions.  (decide what

should be analyzed) 2.Identify and gather the data needed to

answer questions. 3.Change the real world problem to a math

problem 4.Computation (change the math problem

into a math answer) 5.Change the math answer back into a real

world answer then verify that the answer works.

My math classes when I was a novice teacher...Students spent at least 80% of time on step 4.

Students did step 4 by following multi-step procedures.Step 4 can be done more quickly and more efficiently by using graphing calculators and computers.
