ABSTRAK
Evaporasi adalah proses untuk memekatkan suatu larutan dengan menguapkan zat
pelarutnya. Evaporator adalah alat untuk menguapkan zat pelarut pada suatu larutan.
Tujuan percobaan evaporator ini adalah menghitung perpindahan massa dan panas pada
proses evaporasi Falling Film, mengetahui konsentrasi akhir dari larutan asam sitrat danmembandingkan konsentrasi akhir larutan dengan arah aliran counter current dan co-
current. Prosedur yang dilakukan adalah dengan tahap persiapan, yaitu menyalakan alat
evaporator sampai keadaan steady state dan membuat larutan asam sitrat 0,!" sebanyak
!0 gram dalam volume larutan 00 #, setelah itu mulai percobaan pada aliran co-current
dengan variabel $lo%rate &'','! #()am* &+', #()am dan 0 #()am sedangkan aliran
counter current variabel $lo%rate ',& #()am* &,+ #()am dan &, #()am. /emudian
menitrasi larutan yang keluar dari alat evaporator sengan larutan a12 0,& . 3ari
percobaan yang telah dilakukan, didapatkan beberapa kesimpulan sebagai yang pertama
konsentrasi akhir larutan meningkat setelah dievaporasi pada arah aliran co-current dan
counter current, arah aliran co-current mempunyai konsentrasi asam sitrat yang lebih besar
yaitu 0,0'* 0,0& dan 0,0 daripada konsentrasi arah aliran counter current 0,0!* 0,04 dan 0,0&! . 2asil perhitungan neraca massa yang dilakukan pada arah aliran co-current
dengan variabel $lo%rate &'','! #(jam5 &+', #(jam dan 0 #(jam, diperoleh nilai
komponen yang masuk berupa $eed 6F7 yang terdiri dari asam sitrat sebesar 04,'44
/g()am* &,0& /g()am dan &+0,0'& /g()am. 8edangkan komponen yang keluar berupa
li9uid 6#7 yang terdiri dari asam sitrat sebesar &'4,4! /g()am5 &!,&'& /g()am dan
+!,'0'& /g()am, serta vapour 6:7 sebesar 0,&04 /g()am* &4,4!'!!! /g()am dan
',4&!!! /g()am. Pada arah aliran counter current dengan variabel $lo%rate ',&
#()am* &,+ #()am dan &, #()am diperoleh nilai komponen yang masuk berupa $eed 6F7
yang komponennya terdiri dari asam sitrat sebesar 40,'40+ /g()am* &4,0&+ /g()am
dan ', /g()am, sedangkan komponen yang keluar berupa li9uid 6#7 yang terdiri dari
asam sitrat sebesar ',4!&&& /g()am* ,&0&!! /g(jam dan &&,4++!! /g()am,
serta vapour 6:7 sebesar 4',!+!0!! /g(jam* &,0''& /g()am dan &+,++&4&
/g(jam. ;erdasarkan perhitungan yang dilakukan pada aliran co-current dengan variabel
$lo%rate &'','! #(jam5 &+', #(jam dan 0 #(jam diperoleh nilai komponen steam 687
sebesar !',' /g()am* +4+,+&! /g()am dan !!4,'& /g()am. 8edangkan
pada aliran counter-current dengan variabel $lo%rate ',& #()am* &,+ #()am dan &,
#()am diperoleh nilai komponen steam 687 sebesar !&,0000 /g()am* +',+0&
/g()am dan 4&,+4&4 /g()am. Pada aliran counter-current pada $lo%rate &, #(jam
mempunyai konsentrasi tertinggi yaitu sebesar 0,0&! .
