The giant slalom in Adelboden at “Chuenisbärgli” is known as one of the most difficult in the world. The challenging downhill slope with a maximum inclination of 60% is quite an affair and especially the steep fin-ishing slope demands a lot from the athletes. Racing director Hans Pieren has highest demands for the quality of his World Cup slope. The slope has to be extremely hard and compact. And to ensure fairness of competition, the slope condition has to stay the same from the first to the very last competi-tor. The influence of the condition of the racing slope on the driving behav-iour is huge. The slope preparation is therefore a science in itself. In con-trast to big and heavy snow groomers which could damage the sensitive sur-face of the slope and whose extensive caterpillars could lead to irregularities by turning around, the Aebi TT XR can move around without any negative impacts on the slope thanks to rubber

tracks and all-wheel steering. The spe-cially developed winch contains 250 meters of working rope and operates with a traction force of up to 4 tons. To secure the Terratrac, the rope can be at-tached to a tree or a cableway pole, for

instance. The 360° rotatable swivel arm enables flexible working on the slope.

Converted from wheels to tracks in next to no time, the Aebi VT450 Vario XR offers a persuasive choice in all seasons - on the road or off-road terrain and equally on snow or boggy ground. The special profile of the tracks makes for very smooth running and the large contact surface considerably reduces the ground con-tact pressure, which in turn preserves the terrain. The ground clearance is increased by around 120 mm when the crawler chassis is fitted. In addition, crab steering can also be used

optimally because the caterpillars on the front and rear axle run in their own tracks, thus reducing the risk of sinking. The greatest possible transaction is also guaranteed with the hy-draulic anti-twist damping of the tracks. With a powerful 109 hp (80 kW), torque of 420 Nm and a clean VM turbodiesel engine in accordance with the EURO 6 stand-ard, the Aebi VT450 Vario XR also leads the way when it comes to environmental protection and meets even the strict require-ments of many car-free communities. Whether winter maintenance is per-formed on mountain passes, access roads or parking spaces - the schmidt supra high-performance snow cutter has no limits.

Every year extreme conditions await at the Gotthard Pass in Switzerland. A Schmidt Supra 4002 ensures a clear road. Every winter brings about 12 metres of snow to the road through the Gotthard Pass. After Easter the snow has to be cleared layer by layer. It takes the experi-enced team about four weeks to get from the south side of the Gotthard Pass up to the top. Luigi Filippi and Michele Delfoc are proud of the powerhouse. Rightly so because, as well as lots of technological benefits, the new Su-pra generation is much more comfortable and safer to drive. The benefits include the logical and ergonomic arrangement of the operating elements, a TFT colour display, a central con-trol panel for the clearing head with one-hand operation, outstanding all-round views, a front windscreen with negative tilt to prevent the build-up of snow as well as a vibration and noise-proof 2-person driver’s cabin. In addi-tion, the machine features heated front and side windows, heated outside mirrors, right-hand drive, a spring-loaded and adjustable seat and much more. The Schmidt Supra is equipped with articulated steering and intelli-gent forward power transmission, thus deliv-ering constant clearing capacity at all times. The Schmidt Supra has a reversible clearing head drive that is directly integrated into the clearing head, eliminating the need for a drive shaft. The powerful dual-block snow clearing unit incorporating a cutter drum and a down-stream blower wheel makes it possible to eject snow up to a distance of 40 m. The tank capac-ity of 530 l allows for up to 8 hours of uninter-rupted operation.
