The Editorial Committee of the Adlerian Society and Institute for Individual Psychology is proud to present a new and longawaited publication that marks the completion of an important text planned and prepared over a number of years, but interrupted by the death of its author, Leo GOLD, Ph.D The book is the distillation of decades of work in bringing psychodrama, dream interpretation and modern psychotherapy theory together into a teachable format. Thanks to the steadfastness, loyalty and editorial assistance of Erik Mansager, Ph.D., this project has come to fruition. Perchance to Dream Dream Work in Four Movements: Language, Symbolism, Interpretation, Therapy The book first covers his innovative theoretical approach (based on the psychodynamic, cognitive, humanist theory of Alfred Adler). After a richly nuanced discussion of the psychological impact of language, dream language is specifically addressed. Here Gold shows how even common dream symbols are best interpreted based on the uniqueness of the individual client with whom the therapist is working. He continues with a practical therapeutic presentation that is accessible for both the seasoned therapist and those new to the art and science of professional helping. What is most distinctive about the book is the manner in which dream therapy is presented. The Theatre of Dreams, or DreamoDrama, is Gold’s highly original psychodramatic dream work. With great skill, he brings his theory alive with actual transcriptions of his work, demonstrating how therapeutic improvisation, based on the knowledge of a unified, comprehensive personality theory, can engage the dreamer as a full partner in the activity. It is Gold’s skill to awaken the dreamer to the wealth of inherent problemsolving ability. The book’s two first sections (theoretical) can stand apart from the two practical sections (interpretation and therapy). This will make it appealing to several levels of therapists: those who want respectful, readily applied practical approaches as well as those who now or later would want to explore the stimulating, wellinformed theory. The hardback book sells at the price of £ 24.50 plus p. & p.
