A multi-institutional retrospective analysis of 1,174 hemodynamically unstable mechanically ventilated ICU patients were divided into two groups: Early EN (< 48 hrs after mechanically ventilated) or late EN. Hospital and ICU Mortality Rates were significantly reduced in the early EN group.
DECREASED LENGTH-OF-STAY3,4 Providing enteral nutrition earlier has been shown to reduce length of ICU and hospital stays.

A randomized, prospective study in 30 acute pancreatitis patients requiring enteral nutrition. Patients received Peptamen or an isocaloric, isonitroge-

A randomized, controlled study in 28 acute pancreatitis patients selected to receive either Peptamen or parenteral nutrition. Both groups were provided
25 kcal/kg/day and 1.5 g/kg/day of protein until they could tolerate a regular diet.

GI dysfunction and intolerance can compromise patients’ comfort and outcomes, and result in calorie or protein malnutrition.

“Frankly, when they raced Alec into my ICU, nutrition concerns were
probably the last thing on my mind.”
• Contains high levels of branched-chain amino acids to support muscle synthesis for tissue growth and repair1
• A rich source of cysteine, a precursor to glutathione, to protect against oxidative stress and tissue damage2,3
• Helps to facilitate gastric emptying4
100% Whey Protein to Promote Tolerance and Anabolism
PEPTAMEN®
Designed for Absorption & Tolerance
PEPTAMEN® formulas are designed for absorption and tolerance with smaller, easy-to-absorb peptides.
High proportion of MCT to facilitate fat absorption
More Easy-to-Absorb Peptides
• 50-70% of fat as Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT)
• Directly absorbed into portal circulation to help provide readily available energy5
Smaller peptides, especially di- and tri-peptides are more readily absorbed than free amino acids or larger peptides.6-10
Peptamen formulas have a greater percentage of smaller peptides compared to Vital® formulas.
