40 DAYS FOR LIFE SEPT 23 – NOV 1
First, go to 40daysforlifepgh.com to choose your time to pray and keep vigil at 933 Liberty Avenue, downtown, where Planned Parenthood sells abortion. Second, please join us on Tuesday, September 22, from 7:00-8:30 pm at Synod Hall, St. Paul Cathedral, corner of Fifth Avenue & Dithridge St. in Oakland for the rally to kick off our Fall 2015 40 Days for Life Campaign. (Parking is available in church lots). Speakers at the Rally will be Fr. Joe Freedy and Pastor Adam Stump. From Wednesday, September 23 to Sunday, November 1, from 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m., pro-life people will pray and keep vigil. Go the 40 Days website (above). Find a spot where YOUR church can choose to come and pray. We are deeply grateful for the encouraging words from Bishop David Zubick. For information call Nikki Bruni at 412-926-9413 or [email protected].
CALL PA REPS & SENATORS Our elected officials MUST hear from people who defend human life. Otherwise, they presume we do not care. They do, however, count every email, phone call, and visit to Harrisburg and/or their local offices. Remember: PA has a pro-abortion Governor who escorted women into Planned Parenthood for abortions. On the other hand, there is a pro-life majority in the PA Senate and House. There will be bills or amendments in both houses to re-prioritize funding related to “family planning.” We must be part of the action.
LAST CHANCE FOR THE BANQUET Jason Jones produced the brief but beautiful movie that mixes pain, anxiety, evil, remorse, coincidence and joy into a story that pregnancy support centers have used to raise the funds that help them to save the lives of mothers and babies. You can watch it on your own screen. Go to “Crescendo, the
movie.” Caution: there is another movie with the same name, but it deals with other topics. (Photo is scene from Crescendo. Go to Crescendo the Movie to watch.)
Call for Reservations: 412-531-9272 See form on page 8
THANK KRIEGER FOR LEADERSHIP
In light of recent revelations about Planned Parenthood’s “alleged” sale of fetal tissue and manipulation of abortion methods, Rep. Tim Krieger (Westmoreland) filed amendments to the 2015-2016 PA Budget that would substantially reduce funding for PP programs. At
the same time, members of the PA pro-life caucus are working to get information on other funding mechanisms and line items from which PP may receive state funds. As expected, that work is difficult. Please thank Rep. Krieger today.

RALLIES FOR LIFE IN PITTSBURGH Saturday, August 22 at PP
More than 350 people of all ages from groups that make up the SW PA pro-life family gathered at sidewalks around the Planned Parenthood abortion mill on Liberty Avenue. Jeannie French reached out and many hands came
back with the banners, signs, families, veterans and some who demonstrated for the first time. A gaggle of pro-aborts, mostly college-age, stood across the street. Occasionally they shouted support for PP. The pro-lifers responded in kind as well as with a group shout, WE LOVE YOU!”
Tuesday, August 25 - CITY COUNTY BUILDING
Many young mothers, students and veterans participated in the demonstration by Students for Life. Aimee Murphy coordinated the lunchtime event at the center of politics, government and law on Grant St. Use the address below for the whole story: !""#$%&&'''()*+"+,-(.*/&'0".!123456789:8$;9<
After the rally most of the group went to the office of Sen. Bobby Casey. His office manager insisted that the Senator is pro-life. The pro-life response was to remind his staff of his pro-abortion voting record.
SPECIAL GIFT AT BANQUET Maria McFadden Maffucci, editor of THE HUMAN LIFE REVIEW, the elite periodical with pro-life articles from the best pro-life writers in medicine, education, politics, research and business, will send copies of HLR for all who attend.
SURPRISE FROM POPE FRANCIS As we head for the printer, we await local and world-wide reaction to the announcement by Pope Francis that during the Holy Year ahead, all priests will have the dis-cretion to forgive the sin of abortion. In the U.S., most bishops have already given that permission to priests.
BOYCOTT UNITED WAY Source: Kristan Hawkins – (SFLA)
How sad it is that a majority of our lawmakers cannot face down our executive branch or the abortion industry that sells the bodies of the babies they kill for a profit AND gets 46% of its total revenue from the taxpayers (that’s you and me). In addition, PP gets 25% of its revenue from corporations and other agencies. United Way sends almost $2 million annually to PP through 67 of their affiliates. They say the money goes toward education inside of PP. Wait a minute! You can't just donate to PP and earmark your donation for utilities or staff or paperclips but not abortion. The building and the staff, the utilities all contribute in some way to abortion. Think about it. Then DO something. Join the national campaign, “Boycott United Way.” Urge UW to stop funding PP. Send an email directly to the president of United Way at www.boycottunitedway.org. Ask him to stop funding PP right now. THANK YOU, SFLA!
NEWS FROM COALITION ON A/BC “PHYSICIANS URGED TO WARN PATIENTS ABOUT THE ABORTION-BREAST CANCER (ABC) LINK.” A review by A. Patrick Schneider, published in the Linacre Quarterly, says that “...having more than one risk factor compounds the risk of breast cancer via synergistic mechanisms,” meaning the risk increase the woman incurs is greater than the sum of the risks for each of her risk factors.” Prescribing of a known carcinogen (the oral contraceptive) to a child without provision of full and accurate informed consent for the girl and at least one parent or guardian is medically, legally and ethically indefensible. For more information and to continue with research: Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer.
Thank you, Mr. Lincoln Abraham Lincoln was once standing near a donkey conversing with a colleague. The dialogue went like this: Lincoln speaks first: “Sir, how many legs does this donkey have?” “Four, Mr. Lincoln.” “And how many tails does it have?” “Why, one, Mr. Lincoln.” “Now, sir, what if we were to call the tail a leg; how many legs would the donkey then have?” “Five, Mr. Lincoln.” “No sir. You cannot make a tail into a leg by calling it one.” We should use this little gem from time to time when someone refers to abortion as “health care.”

Letter from the President Dear Friends, Study this map for a moment and contemplate the hypocrisy of Planned Parenthood.
The source of this map is the 2015 Federal Drug Administration's list of licensed mammography facilities in the United States and was obtained through the Freedom of Information Act. Jean Brinzer, a PCUC board member, presented this visual to us recently. It is said that a picture can be worth a thousand words and I believe it holds true with the above map. Planned Parenthood claims defunding them would hurt women because their facilities wouldn't be able to offer cancer screening. STRIKE ONE. Planned Parenthood claims they protect a woman's privacy and right to choose by killing their babies and injuring the soul of the mother. STRIKE TWO Planned Parenthood has been exposed through horrific videos of greed and total disregard for life by selling body parts of the victims of abortion. STRIKE THREE Planned Parenthood should be put OUT of business. In our efforts to educate people about abortion, this map can be used to start a conversation that will unveil the abortionists for the pretenders and liars they are. We need to become more vocal and visible with our message of LIFE. Yours for Life,
Claudia Berthold

REDEEMED BY GRACE Ramona Trevino
Reviewed by Jean Brinzer You know, one day we’re all going to stand before God, and I believe he’s going to say “What did you do?” First of all, he’s going to say, “Did you know about the pro-life cause? Did you know that over three thousand babies a day were being ripped from their mothers’ wombs piece by living piece?” As she heard these words on the local Catholic Radio Station, Ramona Trevino realized that they were calling her to the beginning of the end of her job as the manager of a Planned Parenthood clinic. In her new book Redeemed by Grace [Ignatius Press 2015] Ramona recounts her personal journey to becoming a pro-life activist and dedicated Catholic. The road traveled is littered with her heartaches and problems. Finding herself pregnant at age 16, Ramona drops out of school and enters into an abusive marriage that lasts for seven years. After her divorce and eventual remarriage she wanders from job to job, finally settling as the manager of the Planned Parenthood clinic in Sherman Texas. She approaches her new position with enthusiasm, feeling that she will be helping low-income young women find a path to a more promising future. Constantly changing supervisors and routines, an increased work load and understaffing begin to wear on her. Even worse is her growing dissatisfaction with some of the roles she must play – distributing contraceptives to girls as young as 12 and 13 without their parents’ knowledge, being unable to help young women and men with life-threatening sexually transmitted diseases and, worst of all, having to refer pregnant girls to nearby abortion clinics. Ramona’s weak Catholic faith begins to grow and blossom as she tunes to the Guadalupe Radio Network. By the time her clinic becomes a prayer center for 40 Days for Life she is ready to cross over to the pro-life cause. The book describes her personal sacrifices in this move and also the support she receives from the Dallas pro-life community as she becomes a crusader for the babies and women she had previously betrayed. Redeemed by Grace is available from Amazon in hard cover, paperback and Kindle editions.
