Home economics profession proposes name change The Task Force for Professional Unity and Identity has proposed to change the name of the Home Economics profession to Fam- ily andConsumerSciences. The Task Force is composed of the American Home Economics Association (AHEA), the Asso- ciation of Administrators of Home Economics (AAHE), the National Council of Adminis- trators of Home Economics (NCAHE), the National Asso- ciation of Extension Home Economists, andthe HomeEco- nomics Education Division of the American Vocational Asso- ciation. Members of AHEA will have the opportunity to ratify the amendment in June. Ac- cording to Leola Adams, PhD, of the AAHE, "the interest is strong enough to ratify." An item in our January issue (p 10) indicated that the pro- posal had been ratified. How- ever, only the NCAHE has rati- fied the new name. The other organizations will be voting later this year.
