Penticton Centennial Plaza Project

Managed by the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan, donations will establish the Penticton Centennial Legacy Fund. As with other endowment funds in the Foundation’s portfolio, only the investment proceeds are distributed. The fund itself continues to grow and give back to the community forever.

Income from the Centennial Legacy Fund will be distributed as follows:

Designed as a grand entrance to Okanagan Park, the commemorative Plaza has three components that provide opportunities to donate and be recognized:

• Donor Walls – these walls allow for two levels of donation and recognize community involvement and spirit. Plaques will be inscribed with names and establishment dates of donating families or organizations.

• Time Capsules – set into concrete, four time capsules, one to be opened every 25 years, with the last one unveiled in 2108 for Penticton’s bi-centennial. A unique opportunity to make a corporate statement.

• Centennial Tree – representing the progression of time through the seasons, an accompanying plaque will state: “We plant a tree to benefit another generation.”

Representing every aspect of the community; families, businesses, service clubs, special events and individuals, the Centennial Plaza provides an opportunity to come together and celebrate Penticton’s first 100 years as a city by recognizing historic milestones, honoring contributors and creating a permanent legacy.

Donor plaques will honour Penticton’s families, businesses, service clubs, special events and individuals. A wonderful gift, leaving a permanent legacy.

The Plaza entrance is flanked by two stone walls that will allow for two levels of giving:

The Centennial Plaza is an opportunity for everyone in Penticton to be involved as the community collectively reflects on its past while creating a permanent legacy for future generations.

The Centennial Plaza not only serves as a permanent physical commemoration of Penticton’s centennial, it builds the Penticton Centennial Legacy Fund, a permanent endowment fund. Proceeds from this fund will assist local students and sustain cultural, heritage and environmental projects that will benefit the community in perpetuity.

• 50% will be used for community projects that sustain local culture, heritage and the natural environment.

• 50% will provide annual bursaries and scholarships to local students attending any public secondary or post secondary school.
