Knowing how much mulch to purchase for your beds orgardens is always a bit of a guess, but if you own a pickuptruck or your project requires two or more yards of mulch, buybulk. Bulk mulch is substantially more cost effective thanbagged mulch. Bulk mulch, even including a delivery fee, willalmost always be less expensive.

To determine how much mulch you need, measure the squarefootage of your area and the desired depth, in inches, of mulch. If youwant to compare pricing on bagged vs. bulk, know that baggedmulch is usually sold by either weight or cubic volume.

.There are 27 cubic feet in a cubic yard.

.The average 40 Ib. bag of mulch is approximatelyequal to 1 cubic foot.

The only compelling reason to buy bagged mulch is ease of transporta-tion. Bagged mulch can be up to ten times more expensive than bulk. Itmakes sense to pay a delivery fee and borrow a wheelbarrow if you donthave one. Further, cheap bagged mulch can sometimes contain shredded

construction debris or other waste with toxic chemicals.

Why: One out of every two men, and one out of every three women will face a cancer

diagnosis in his or her lifetime. Money raised at this Relay For Life supports theAmerican Cancer Societys efforts to create a world with less cancer and more

birthdays by helping people stay well, by helping people get well, by finding cures

and fighting back. This year the American Cancer Society celebrates 100 years of

fighting to save lives from cancer. By lending your support to the Relay For Life of

Clarkston this year, youll be helping the Society finish the fight and bring an end to

cancer as we know it.

Who: More than 25 teams are expected with nearly 300 participants from Clarkstonand the surrounding area.

There will also be live music as well as fun and games for all age!

As always, everyone in the community is invited to participate in the American

Cancer Society Relay For Life of Clarkston. Join us by lighting a luminaria, pledging

to save one life from cancer this year, or simply walking laps with friends!
