Living Choice graded triples carnival Sponsored by Living Choice Retirement Villages We had 38 Teams (114 Bowlers) playing today in great weather conditions. The greens ran very well, the food was given quite a few compliments, and the day went off without any dramas or problems. Winning teams came from Pennant Hills (3), Beecroft (2), Castle Hill and Dural. Keith Cunningham ran around selling more raffle tickets at lunch, a great job well done Keith. Stuart Hogarth’s help was indeed very valuable and I could not have got everything done on time without his help, thanks Stuart. I also want to thank all the committee members who generously supported the event not just on the day but during the time leading up to the event. It was a genuine team effort. Warren Phillips

Commonwealth Games April 5 - 13 (from Bowls Australia) There's just a few more sleeps until the Australian Jackaroos roll down their first bowl of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games and commence their campaign for gold. News from the Women’s Club Committee news Firstly, on behalf of the committee and all club members we must congratulate our Open Fours team who entered the new Mitchell District Competition. This event took place in January, the members of the team were; Karen Svenne, Cath Foster, Jenny Partridge and Pam Lowe. The ladies went on to the finals against The Hills Club and on the day of the final Bev Fairbairn substituted for Jenny Partridge and the ladies were defeated by two shots on the last end. Well done. This Pennant season is our first in the Mitchell District. Our club entered Grade 1, Grade 2 and Grade 4. It has been rewarding, interesting and a big learning experience for our ladies: playing at different Clubs as far away as Wentworthville, Toongabbie and Blacktown, getting to the club at 7.30 am to travel to the different clubs, some ladies including me getting up in the dark to play bowls… however we have been made very welcome by all the clubs in our new district. We all have met some new friends and played on very different greens, all of our teams have tried very

hard. I personally believe that the stronger competition has improved my bowling and that of many of my fellow club bowlers. Next year will be different in some ways: 1. We will know where the Clubs are, the little red bus now knows where to go, no bus lanes. 2. All players will have their phone on till the start of play if a team gets lost. 3. The super veteran warned by the umpire will no longer jump up when a bowl is heading for her feet. Overall this Pennant season has been a really good experience for our Club. Also, a big thank you to both the men and ladies who have taken the time to umpire at our home games, and to Pres Margaret who always seemed to be the controlling body. Coming Events Easter Monday Mixed Carnival Monday 2nd April, on the board. Major Singles commence Thursday 5th April, entry sheet on board. Club Fours commence Tuesday 24th April, entry sheet on board. Anzac Day mixed Carnival Wednesday 25th April, details soon. Anglicare Autumn Triples Carnival Monday 28rd May.
