Pen and Paper
There are several different ways to start a design.
Pen and paper are my essential tools when I start
each project. They can free up my mind to new
possibilities. When the tip of the pen touches the
paper, it resonates to great effect.

As a typography exploration, design a conference put on by
a leading organization in one field of study. This will take
place in a particular venue and city. The job will be to create a
conference, which addresses a pertinent issue facing the topic
of one subject. Key words to focus on are: experimentation,
discovery, change, future, deep.
Project Concept
We are all living in a geometric world, we can see an enormous
variety of shapes everywhere around us, such as in signage,
transportation, architecture, and so on. In this project, I will
help people understand how geometric shapes play a role
in architecture. Geometric shapes are not only aesthetically
pleasing, they have the potential to be provide safe structures
and can help save energy and space.

Buttons have always stood as a vehicle for expressing opinions,
likes, dislikes, hopes and dreams. This goal of this project is to
create a series of buttons that communicate anything you wish.
The series will be packaged in an interesting way and be unified
by a theme. It will serve as an umbrella for personal expression.
Project Concept
More and more people like to eat sushi in their daily life. As
we know, sushi is a healthy, light and nutritious food that
is very fitting for urban life. In this project, I made a sushi
button series. We could put them on bags, shirts or pants.
We want people to see them everywhere to promote a more
healthy habits and a happier life. Have fun!

To create a typographic card set introducing a unique
typeface and its family. The set needs to be informative,
educational , fun and original so people would want to buy
it and keep it as a reference. The card set should reflect a
sense of art , design and typography.
Project Concept
In our l i fe , besides newspapers, books and magazines,
currency has a lot of letter-forms to show as well , such
as different patterns, typefaces or colors. As a result , I m
going to introduce the feature of Democratica typeface
through this special way.

As we know, San Francisco Bay Area is a small crowded
space. There are no more places to plant fresh vegetables
and fruit for urban office people. In order to solve this
problem, I came up with the idea of building a small farm
garden on the roof that lets urban office people grab fresh
vegetables and fruit more easily and more healthily. I t s
cal led Roofarm. Our statement is: Roofarm uti l izes unused
downtown rooftop spaces for farming, al lowing local
business people the opportunity to reap the benefits of
organically grown fruit and vegetables.

This is a proportional gift package that one would receive
from a type foundry upon purchase of the typefaces. The job
will be to design a package of typefaces with one main type-
face and its family. The word as mentioned above will devel-
op into a subject to elaborate on with depth and meaning.
Project Concept
Human communication occurs in many different modes,
beyond the written word. In addition to expression through
the voice, we can also use various nonverbal means to
talk. Body painting is one way to express human thoughts,
positions and moods. In this project, I will show the origins
of this communication and how traditional forms affect
modern body painting.

THE HABIT OF A MONK
Project Title
Project Concept
I chose Terrible beer, which belongs to the Unibroue
brewery company l ine. Through researching Unibroue
Co. I learned that Unibroue brewery is located in Quebec
Canada, putting out some fantastic Belgian style ales with
quirky apocalyptic sounding names. I wanted the concept
to continue this tradition through visual means. Unibroue
draws inspiration from the brewing methods developed
over centuries by Trappist monks in Europe particularly
in Belgium. So I incorporated Abbey patterns within my
design to capture the feel of ancient traditions.

Split the World Market company between low cost home
furnishings called latitude and private label specialty
food brands. The latitude brand will include home fur-
nishings and decor, and essentially everything that is not
a consumable. We believe that this strategy will be a return
to World Market s focus on specialty food items, and will
give consumers new reasons to shop at World Market.

Each latitude on the planet has many cities. For example,
50 degrees north has Milan, Chicago, Seattle, Barcelona and
Geneva and so forth. Also each city has there own cultural
style and features. We came up with ways to connect each
latitude location to the products by choosing modern cities
that inspire our packaging.

Many people out there arent really aware of the danger of
identity theft and how much trouble they will get in when
their identity is stolen. Identity thief can happen through
mail , ATM and robbery. Even though an identity can be
recovered, it is expensive and time-consuming to fix. We
have to build something to protect our identity.

Inform the audience to the importance of security for their
information through a campaign. This campaign includes
posters, hand-outs with important information and there
would be free software for people to protect their personal
info, especially when they are going through the Internet.
The approach of design is light since the subject matter is
serious because we didnt want to frighten people. We creat-
