The funding for the proposed signals at the Stanley/Ballarat St intersection has been approved by our National Office safety team. Attached is the concept plan showing the proposed layout. As discussed last week I have talked to to let him know what we are proposing. I had a very positive conversation with him and he is pleased that we have responded to in such a timely manner. He supports the proposed improvements and has offered to help us with the comms, particularly with the media. I have asked him not to talk to the media just yet until we have worked out a comms strategy, which he has agreed to do. We will need to keep him in the loop though as his support will be helpful in getting it across the line with the community. We have engaged Abley to undertake some further modelling which can produce an animated video output which will also be helpful. I think we should probably have an initial media release fairly soon; we just need to think about how we incorporate the possibility of Shotover/Stanley intersection at the same time, although the funding for this is still not confirmed. We will also need to consider the Camp/Ballarat intersection that Denis is working on. Let me know what you think about timing of a media release.
