out of 15 schools. Well done!

Ippolyts last night. The team worked well and battled hard, but
unfortunately lost 8-11.
Notices
Half Term - School finishes today, Friday 15th February at 3.15pm for the Half Term. The school will be closed from
Monday 18th to Friday 22nd February. Children return to school on Monday 25th February at 8.50am.
Year 5 Cycle Training Course - w/c Monday 25th February (this is only for children who are booked and paid on the course).
Book Week - A flyer regarding our ‘dressing up’ day will be emailed to parents the w/c 25th
February. Children are able to dress as their favourite book character on World Book Day on Thursday 7th
March 2019. Please note, it is not compulsory for children to take part.
Children will be given a £1 book token on Monday 25th February 2019. They are able to use this token at our
Book Fair which is being held from Wednesday 27th February to Tuesday 5th March from 3.20 to 3.45pm in the Atrium (Breakfast/After
School Club entrance). We will also be running a second-hand book swap shop at the same time. Children can bring in a book they no longer
want from Wednesday 27th February 2019 and swap it for a Peartree book token that they can later ‘spend’ at our second hand book swap shop
at the book fair.
Marie Curie (Daffodil Appeal) - From Monday 25th February your child will be able to purchase a daffodil for a minimum
donation of £1.00 in aid of Marie Curie nurses. The last day for donations will be Friday 29th March 2019.
Recyling Batteries - The Big Battery Hunt is a nationwide battery recycling challenge run by Duracell. They want to encourage children to
recycle their batteries as opposed to putting them in the bin because battery waste can pollute the land and water. Children have already received
a free battery collection box. Once the box is filled with batteries, they can be brought to school and placed in our battery bin. The bin is in the
walkway between Year 4 and the Deli. When our school bin is full, Duracell will collect our batteries and recycle them for free.
Lost Property - Year 1 to Year 6 parents will be able to look through lost property during Wednesday Workshop mornings.
This is also available to Reception parents on Thursdays.
School Nurse Team - Reception parents have been emailed a letter from the school nurses team to take part in an online health
assessment of their child. The assessment is confidential between parents and the school nurse team. Further information is available on their
website: https://www.hct.nhs.uk/our-services/schoolnursing. The assessment should be completed by Friday 15th February. To access the online
questionnaire please follow this link: https://hertfordshire.hapi-system.com/school-entry Password: Jupiter1
Message to parents from Hydean Dental Practice - We are the practice next door to your school. There is currently a national increase in the
number of children with tooth decay. There are also statistics from the NHS that around 40% of children were not seen by an NHS dentist in
the last year. Statistics also show that 42% of children aged 2 to 11 develop a cavity in their baby teeth. Being one of the larger NHS dentistry
providers in Stevenage we are able to see many patients and wish to encourage more parents and their children to register. We are a very caring
practice and aim to make the visit to our practice a relaxed one. We educate all of our patients on good dental hygiene, as well as diet advice to
help prevent tooth decay.
