INSTRUCTIONS
DO NOT RETURN THIS PAGE To be eligible for any of these scholarships, you must be enrolled as a graduating
senior at Pearland High School BEFORE the end of the 1st semester of the 2016-
2017 school year.
Requirements are listed separately for each scholarship application. Please read
the scholarship requirements carefully. Make sure your paperwork is in the
correct order according to each scholarship.
Use the fillable pdf application pages found online. Handwritten
applications will not be accepted.
Make copies of the Personal History pages and attach a copy with each
application.
Each scholarship has a separate application that must be signed and
attached to the required documents.
You will need to request only one transcript from Christy Pruitt, Counselor
Secretary, by January 20, 2017. Transcripts can either be requested in
person or via email at [email protected]. Make copies for each
application submitted. After January 20, you will need to request a
transcript from the Registrar’s office, the cost will be $1.
Scholarship winners will not be announced until the Senior Scholarships Awards
Ceremony, May 4, 2017. You will be notified if you are a recipient of any of the
listed scholarships 1 week prior to the awards ceremony. PLEASE MAKE
ARRANGEMENTS TO ATTEND.

Keep Pearland Beautiful Joe Miller Environmental Scholarship
Purpose: To encourage and assist at least two worthy Pearland residential senior students who have demonstrated good stewardship of the environment and whose wish it is to continue their studies at a four-year college/university, a two-year community college, or a trade/technical school.
Scholarship Award: At least two $1,000 scholarships (Number of scholarships will be determined by KPB Committee) Scholarship Eligibility: Must have a grade point average of at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Must be a resident of Pearland, Texas and a graduating senior in high school. Application Requirements: (Needs to be submitted in the following order.)
1. Read and sign this application. 2. Personal History and Personal History-Profile pages. (Make a copy for each scholarship.) 3. Provide a letter of recommendation from an outside source (not a family member). The Teacher
Checklist form does not count as a letter of recommendation. 4. Provide a transcript. 5. A 500-word essay titled: “Sustaining Our Planet” addressing one of the prompts below:
Describe a major environmental problem and what you believe should be done about it. Include how you, personally, plan to help address the issue.
Respond to Margaret Mead’s quote stating, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtfully committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.” Give examples of groups committed to preserving the environment, including a group that you were a member.
Dave Foreman said, “Do something. Pay your rent for the privilege of living on this beautiful blue-green, living Earth.” How do you plan to “pay your rent” to Earth?
The Keep Pearland Beautiful committee will screen applicants and select finalists to be interviewed. The
committee will then interview the candidates and select the number of recipients according to the number
of scholarships available.

Pearland Classroom Teachers Association Scholarship
Purpose:
To encourage and assist a worthy Pearland ISD senior who wishes to continue their studies in the education field.
Scholarship Award: At least one (1) $700 scholarship. Scholarship Eligibility:
The applicant MUST plan to teach elementary, secondary or college level. Application Requirements: (Needs to be submitted in the following order.)
1. Read and sign this application. 2. Personal History and Personal History-Profile pages. (Make a copy for each scholarship.) 3. Provide two letters of recommendation from a teacher at the school you are currently attending. 4. Provide one letter of recommendation from sources outside of PHS (employer, pastor, coach,
sponsor, and/or employer). Please no family members or friends. In addition, the letter of recommendation MUST include a heading, title of the person writing the letter and contact information must be included.
5. 300-400 word essay double spaced, 12 or 14 Times Roman Font. Your essay must include: Why I desire to go into the education field and what level of education I plan on teaching and
content area I think I could teach?
Why I think I would be a good educator?
The experience I have had working with or instructing others (especially children) in church, scouts, or child care.

To encourage and assist Pearland ISD seniors whose wish is to continue their studies at a four year college/university, a two year community college, or a trade/technical school.
Scholarship Award:
Amounts and number of scholarship(s) awarded will be determined before the Senior Awards Ceremony.
Scholarship Eligibility: Must be a Pearland ISD PTA Member (Parent or Student) by 10/31/2016.

Memorial Scholarship Purpose:

Scholarship Award:
Scholarships will be awarded to the top three recipients in the amounts of $1,000, $750, and $250. Scholarship Eligibility: Must have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher.
Must have participated in PGSA for at least one year. A four-year college/university, two-year community college, or a trade/technical school identified.

It is understood that the Lions Club Scholarship recipients will be paid directly by the Scholarship
Committee Chairperson upon approval of the President and Treasurer as follows:
50% upon producing a valid registration and class assignment form of the first semester that has
been pre-paid by student.
The remaining 50% will be paid for the second semester when the above information plus a current
transcript showing 1st semester grades have been provided.

Purpose:
To encourage and assist a worthy Pearland High School senior whose wish is to continue his/her studies at a four-year college/university, a two-year community college, or a trade/technical school.
Scholarship Award: Two scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $1,000 each. Scholarship Eligibility: Must be in top 50% of graduating class Must have participated in a school or community activity Application Requirements: (Needs to be submitted in the following order.)

PEARLAND HIGH SCHOOL LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
Shadycrest Elementary PTA Scholarship Purpose:
To provide financial assistance for further education (at a four-year university, junior or community college, or accredited trade school) to a former Shadycrest Elementary student who is currently a PISD graduating high school student.
Scholarship Award:
There shall be at least one scholarship awarded yearly, and the scholarship shall be awarded in the amount of $1,000, with the remaining amount awarded in $500 increments.
Scholarship Eligibility: Must have attended Shadycrest Elementary for at least one school calendar year. Must be a graduating Pearland ISD high school student. Meet school attendance guidelines as stipulated by the State of Texas. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or above, based on school’s permanent records, for the last two years. Application Requirements: (Needs to be submitted in the following order.)
1. Read and sign this application. 2. Personal History and Personal History-Profile pages. (Make a copy for each scholarship.) 3. Written essay of up to 200 words about the student’s time at Shadycrest Elementary. 4. Provide a transcript. 5. Provide a letter of recommendation from an outside source. (Not a family member)
It is understood that the committee shall be composed of three (3) or five (5) representatives from the Shadycrest Elementary PTA. The committee will screen anonymous applicants and select a maximum of twelve (12) candidates. The number of recipients will be selected according to the number of scholarships available. The committee may choose to interview the candidates as part of the decision making process. If the committee chooses to conduct interviews, the interview dates will be determined by the Scholarship Chairperson in coordination with the PHS Counselor’s office. If applicable, applicants will be notified of the interview date and time by The PHS Counselor’s office.

Scholarship Award: One $500 scholarship will be awarded for a senior graduating from PHS, DHS, or THS. Scholarship Eligibility: Must have attended Silverlake Elementary for one full school year. Purpose: Partners for Pearland was formed in June 1994 by a small group of business owners and concerned citizens with a desire to raise funds to help make a difference in children’s lives.
