AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE
FROM PASTOR RON
Dear friends,
A er much prayer and thought,
Becky and I have made the decision
to rere from full-me ministry be-
ginning September 1, 2013.
As you can imagine, this was not an
easy decision. We love the ministry
and the people of Word of Peace, and
it has given us great joy and meaning
to be a part of our Lord's work in this
amazing congregaon.
It has been a wonderful nine years. The outstanding and commi-ed
staff has been just great to work with. Our congregaon is blessed
with posive effecve leaders. This church is filled with acve com-
mi-ed people who generously share their gi s, me and finances.
And over the years, the many worship and ministry programs have
been excing to be a part of. This church makes a major difference in
the lives of people, our Northwestern Suburban Community, and
God's world.
The future of Word of Peace is filled with so many possibilies as you
follow our Lord Jesus into the future. We will always hold you in our
hearts, and you will be in our prayers and thoughts in the years
ahead. We love you all.
By God’s Grace,
A FOND FAREWELL
TO A BELOVED PASTOR
Pastor Ron has devoted his life to serv-
ing God’s people and we have been
truly blessed with his leadership for the
last nine years at Word of Peace.
We rejoice with Pastor Ron and Becky
as they transi on into this next phase
of their lives. Although this is a me of
loss for our congrega on, we must
trust that God has a plan for Word of
Peace. Therefore, we need to put our
faith in God to bring us into a new and
wonderful season of ministry.
In August, we will send Pastor Ron and
Becky off with a wonderful celebra on
(details to come). Pastor Ron will
preach his final sermon on Sunday,
August 25 and Monday, August 26.
The Execu ve Team is working togeth-

It is a joy to give and it is a way to put God
first in our lives. As a part of our recent
“Home Run” sermon series, Pastor Ron
preached a sermon about how we can put
God first in our lives. The acros c F-I-R-S-T
gives us five ways to put God first in our lives
and in our homes: Finances, Interests, Rela-
onships, Schedule, Troubles.
When it comes to finances, put God first.
God has said that money is the number one
test of your priori es. We spend most of our
lives trying to earn it. Your checkbook re-
veals what’s really important to you. Get out
your checkbook right now and examine it…
what does it reveal about the priori es in
your life? The way you spend your money
says what’s first in your life.
Deuteronomy 14:22-23 says, “Set apart a
the of all the yield of your seed that is
brought in yearly from the field….so that you
may learn to fear the Lord your God always.”
What’s thing? God invites us to give the
first 10% of all we make back to him, simply
to teach us to put God first.
Right now, we need your help to do the
Lord’s work through Word of Peace. We are
22% ahead of our budget for the Building
Fund (mortgage payments, mortgage debt
reduc on), however we are 9% behind in
our General Fund drive (ministry programs,
building care, staff). What’s interes ng is
that our pledges are on track—so we’re
challenging our non-pledgers to step up
more. Again, we can’t do this without your
support.
Thank you and God bless!
