In Ephesians 2:8, Paul writes, "For by grace you have been saved through faith;
and this is not your doing. It is the gift of God." As Christians who are Lutheran,
we say "We are justified (saved) by God’s grace alone, through faith alone, on
account of Christ alone." We know that in spite of the fact that we are
unacceptable, for Christ’s sake, God has accepted us just as we are. We know that
we are saved by God’s free grace alone and God’s grace does not waver like our
feelings of faith. So as God’s sent people, let us hold on to God’s grace and be
God’s ministers and witnesses to all those around us every day of our lives.
We, though many, are made one in Christ to serve all. Christ is the cornerstone of
our faith, and through Christ, we strive to be a cornerstone of our community.
Welcome to
Peace Lutheran Church members

Worship Services are available at
www.peace2you.org
Please join in a time of fellowship and
refreshments in the Fellowship Hall
after worship.
PLEASE TAKE THE TIME to fill out
the attendance pad found in your pew
and pass it along. This is the only way
we have for verifying your worship
attendance. These records are kept and
are the difference between a member
who is active & inactive. Is this
important? It is when it comes to being
able to vote at the Annual Meeting. So
please sign the pads.
If this is your first visit with us, we
invite you to let us know your address, so
we may thank you personally for joining
us.

FINANCIAL PEACE UNIVERSITY
Financial Peace University (FPU) continues every
Tuesday through Nov. 12. Questions? Talk to Val Ross,
FPU coordinator.
ADULT FORUM Ex-homicide detective, J. Warner Wallace investigates the
claims of the Gospels in “Cold-Case Christianity”. Mr.
Wallace was a vocal atheist for many years and now uses
his investigative skills to make a case for Christianity. A
brief presentation will be followed by a discussion of this
fascinating and thoughtful material. Join us!
BIBLE BOOK CLUB Join us Thursday evening at 7 p.m. for our Bible Book
Study group. Diane Oddy has a supply of Max Lucato’s
book “You’ll Get Through This”.
CHOIR BEGINS Mark your calendars for October 13. You don’t have to be
able to read music to “sing to the Lord”! Talk to Dianne
Coughlin if you have any questions. NEW TIME: 4:30-
5:30 P.M.
TUESDAY AFTERNOON BIBLE STUDY Tuesday Afternoon Bible Study will begin October 15th
at 1:30 pm. This Fall’s topic is “Ambidextrous
Christianity” – the idea that two truths sometimes need to
be kept in tension. Such a “two-handed” approach to our
faith journey helps us as Christ’s followers to navigate life
without going into the ditches on either side.
FIRST COMMUNION CLASS First Communion Instruction will begin Wednesday, October 16th at 4 p.m. for students 3rd grade and
above who haven’t yet had this class. This 5-week classes will meet after school until First Communion
Sunday on November 17th. Contact the Church Office to sign-up!
NEW MEMBER SUNDAY We will be welcoming new members on Sunday, October 13. Please let the church office know if
you’re interested in joining the Peace Lutheran family. Orientation will be on the 12th…..details to be
announced.
A MESSAGE FROM ONE OF OUR BENEVOLENCE PARTNERS……
Hello Peace Family! The following is an update written by a Dawson Community College Student who is
a member of InterVarsity there. (Peace supports IV at DCC with our Benevolence $$.) This weekend was
amazing! There were 8 of us that attended the fall intervarsity conference and we couldn’t be happier
with how it turned out. Friendship grew into something we didn’t know we needed. We experienced
Jesus at work in our lives and the people around us. The fellowship with fellow college Christians was
amazing. For me personally, I grew in a deep relationship with Christ. The speaker talked about leaning
into Jesus and that if you aren’t fully leaning in, you are pulling away; there is no in between. That
really hits home for me. College life is busy, but busy is a relative term. What am I busy doing? Am I
spending my time wisely? No I am not. Setting aside time each day to go deeper into the Bible and into
prayer is so important. We also talked about how just because we are “disobedient doesn’t mean we are
disqualified” from a relationship with God. A lot of people think that the past mistakes they have made
are too bad and God won’t accept them anymore. But you know what? He does accept you and he is
eager for a relationship for you! We need to lean into God because he is waiting so eagerly!! I want to
invite all my fellow DCC students and friends to join me at intervarsity. It is a chance to learn and grow
together. We aren’t a group of perfect people, so that means you don’t need to be perfect to join! We are
also eager to have you! Also, a huge thank you to the our amazing leaders who made this opportunity
possible! Joe Peterson and Daneen Peterson we love and appreciate you guys so much! Thank you for
everything you do for us!
From Joe & Daneen Peterson: We are so grateful for Peace's continued support to InterVarsity at
DCC. Last weekend 8 of our students attended the IV Fall Conference, thanks to your financial
partnership. They had reports similar to Lily's (above). Some said "it was the best trip ever"... and "the
best weekend of my life so far!" Their faith has been deepened and they are excited to share with their
fellow students!! God is moving!!!
