The two-way system includes a 15"Black Widow woofer with a Kevlar¨

impregnated cone and a specially treatedsurround, cone and dust cap for excellentweather resistance. The 22XT compres-sion driver features a 2" titaniumdiaphragm, and is coupled to an extremelysmooth and well controlled constant direc-tivity horn, with a coverage pattern of 90 degrees by 45 degrees that is moldedinto the enclosure. Input connection to thesystem is made via 1/4" phone jacks (2) or4-pin Neutrik Speakon connectors.Provisions for bi-amplification are madevia a lock-down switch selected mode ofoperation for the Neutrik connectors, orinstant access 1/4" switching jacks. Theinternal passive crossover features SoundGuard to protect the tweeter, and utilizeshigh performance components and anadvanced topology crossover to providehigh power handling and a smooth yetclear response. The optimal integration ofthe crossover with the selected driversresults in a smooth frequency responsefrom 62 Hz to 18 kHz.

The free-flow vented cabinet offers mounting point inserts top and bottom aswell as a molded-in stand adapter formaximum utility and ease of use.

FREQUENCY RESPONSE:This measurement is useful in deter-

mining how accurately a given enclosurereproduces an input signal.

The frequency response of the Impulse500 is measured at 1 meter using a 2.82-volt, swept-sine input. The selected driverin the Impulse 500 combine to give asmooth frequency response from 62 Hz to18 kHz.

DIRECTIVITY:Beamwidth and directivity factors arederived from the -6 dB points from thepolar plots (see figure 3), which are mea-sured in a whole space anechoic environ-ment. These are specifications that pro-vide a reference to the coverage charac-teristics of the unit. These parameters pro-vide insight for proper placement andinstallation in the chosen environment.The blending of the components of theImpulseª 500 exhibit a desirablebeamwidth and directivity (figures 3 and 4)suitable for sound reinforcement applica-tions.

Utilizing audio band 20 Hz to 20 kHz pink noise with peaks over fourtimes the RMS level, this strenuous testsignal assures the user that every portionof this system can withstand todayÕs hightechnology music. The test signal containslarge amounts of very low frequency ener-gy, effectively simulating the frequencycontent of live music situations. The fullmeasure of high frequencies in the testsignal allows for exposure of the speakerto synthesized tones that may extendbeyond audibility. This rating is contingenton having minimum 3 dB of amplifierheadroom available.

ARCHITECTURAL AND ENGINEERINGSPECIFICATIONS:The loudspeaker system shall have anoperating bandwidth of 48 Hz to 18 kHz.The output level shall be 100 dB whenmeasured at a distance of 1 meter with an input of 1 watt. The nominal imped-ance shall be 8 ohms. The continuouspower handling shall be 350 watts, maxi-mum program power of 700 watts, and apeak power handling of 1,400 watts, witha minimum amplifier headroom of 3 dB.The peak SPL with inaudible distortionshall reach 133 dB with music as a

source, when measured at a distance of 1 meter and driven to rated power. Thesystem shall utilize a 15" Black Widowwoofer and a 22XT compression driver tweeter. The nominal radiation pattern shall be 90 degrees in the horizontal planeand 45 degrees in the vertical plane. Thecabinet is to consist of injection-molded polypropylene of 1/4" nominal thickness,with internal reinforcing ribs. A handgrip shall be present on each side of the cabi-net next to the woofer and a handle on thetop rear edge. A vinyl-coated perforated metal grille shall be provided for wooferprotection. The cabinet shall incorporatefour tall sturdy rubber feet for floor stand-ing use and four mounting point insertstop and bottom for flying use. The outsidedimensions shall be 28 9/16" tall by 21 5/16" wide (11 1/2" wide in rear) by 17" deep. The weight shall be 56 lbs. Theinput connection shall be made availablevia two 1/4" phone jacks and two 4-pin Neutrik Speakon connectors, all connect-ed in parallel for full range use, and alocking switch to select bi-amp use for theNeutrik connectors and instant access1/4" switching jacks for bi-amp use with1/4" phone jacks. The loudspeaker systemshall be a Peavey model Impulse 500.
