WHY MARTIAL ARTS?

• Because now a days, it will be wiser for everyone to study martial arts in addition to their favorite games or hobbies due to the increase in criminality in our society. Have you ever imagine if what will you do if you will be attacked by anyone of these criminals. Yes this can happen to anyone. Are you prepared to face a potentially life-threatening situation or are you prepared to give all that you had worked for, your love ones, and probably your only life? Obviously, our answer is no. Perceptibly, those who have undergo martial arts training have more advantage in saving their life, the life of their love once, and their hard earned properties than those who did not study martial arts at all. MOST IMPORTANTLY, YOU WILL BE ONE OF OUR COUNTRIY’S PEACE KEEPERS, OUR POLICEMEN AND POLICEWOMAN, IF AND IF YOU WILL GET SERIOUS IN YOUR STUDIES.

• Modern Aikido Self-Defense is a physical fitness activity just like any other kind of individual and group games, that is more suited for the law enforcement Defense-Tactics.

• It is in itself a leadership training.• It promotes a high degree of self

discipline, respect to one another, and sportsmanship.

PSYCHOMOTOR LEARNING

is the relationship between cognitive functions and physical movement.

Psychomotor learning is demonstrated by physical skills such as movement,

coordination, manipulation, dexterity, grace, strength, speed; actions which demonstrate the fine motor skills such as use of precision

instruments or tools, or actions which evidence gross motor skills such as the use

of the body in dance, musical or athletic performance.

1. The COGNITIVE STAGE is marked by awkward slow and choppy movements that the learner tries to control. The learner has to think about each movement before attempting it. 2. In the ASSOCIATIVE STAGE, the learner spends less time thinking about every detail, however, the movements are still not a permanent part of the BRAIN. 3. In the AUTONOMIC STAGE, the learner can refine the skill through practice, but no longer needs to think about the movement.[2]

Stages of psychomotor development

When learning psychomotor skills, individuals progress through the Cognitive Stage,

the Associative Stage, and the Autonomic stage.

WHAT'S A NORMAL RESTING HEART RATE?

1. For an adult, a normal resting heart rate ranges from 60 to 100 beats per minute.

2. For a well-trained athlete, a normal resting heart rate may be closer to 40 beats a minute.

WHAT IS THE IDEAL TRAINING HEART RATE (THR) OR TARGET

HEART RATE ?It is a desired range of heart rate reached during EXERCISE which enables one's heart and lungs to receive the most benefit from a typical 65% - 85% workout intensity, resulting to a 60-70% of your maximum heart rate. Studies points out that on this level you will burn fat.

Page 16: P.E.3 ACLC SELF-DEFENSE LESSONS

FORMULA FOR IDEAL HEART RATE FOR FITNESS IMPROVEMENT

HHRmax - Age x Workout Intensity = Ideal HRmax

220 - 40 x 65% = 117 bpm

220 - 40 x 85% = 153 bpm
