Mrs Baxter (Y6 Teacher)

A few weeks ago in transition week, we dedicated time to

find out about World War One. This was to remember the

soldiers that died 100 years ago. Each year group did

something to remember them. Year six did a fantastic

banner that took five people and two teachers to hold up.

It was full of facts, photographs of them playing WW1

games and heart-warming poems. Year four and five both

wrote a letter to Archie. Archie was a nephew to Walter

who was fighting in the war. We listened to a special radio

about their life in World War One. It was a sad yet happy

story but this wasn’t all that we did. We also took part in

some drama. Again, some of it was from the sad story.

We imagined what it would be like in the trenches, being in

the narrow mud and rat infested hole. We all learned

something. We realised how lucky we are to have never

suffered like those in WW1.By Emily Allinson

Germany stormed to the top of the world cup scoring a fan-

tastic goal in extra time! GERMANY won against Argentina

in the final on Sunday 13th July 2014!

Everyone was convinced it would go on to penalties but Ger-

many scored in extra time. By Millie– Kate Riley

Sports Days have been taking place

over the last few weeks and have

been a brilliant success. Y6 sports

day included races such as the ski

race, egg and spoon race, sprinting,

skipping, relay and fun run. Parents

in all year groups came to watch

and take part in a dedicated parents

race. We would like to thank them

for their support.
