As you will all know, Lisa Tucker has successfully applied and accepted the position of Principal for West Leeming Primary School. Congratulations Lisa - we wish you the very best and hope you enjoy your time with our amazing school. With the finalisation of the Principal appointment and the completion of our own AGM, the P&C is now moving forward, with our focus on building a stronger community within West Leeming Primary School and broadening our focus to ensure we support the school to provide the best opportunities for our children to reach their own potential. I am very excited to advise that the school has put forward a funding request for an upgrade to the Senior School play equipment. This is a big project that will benefit students and the local community, and I hope that everyone will get behind it. Amanda Ash has also been lobbying the local council for over a year to upgrade their playground equipment at Dudley Hartree Park. I am sure you will agree this is well overdue. The planned upgrade was due this financial year but was delayed and rescheduled FY2020. To support Amanda’s amazing work, we will be seeking support from the school and surrounding community to petition the City of Melville to prioritise this upgrade and provide a more adequate playground for our children. I hope you, our school community, will get on board and support both of these great initiatives Rachel Atkinson President Have you got the School Stream App? Did you know this is where we are headed? It’s a pretty scary fact. We think the only way forward is to think about all the positive things we can do to be part of the solution, not the problem.

Can you make it to Tonight’s P&C meeting to hear more? 7:30pm in the Library.

A big thank you to all of the volunteers who have helped so far!! With the colder months coming, recess gets very busy. If you are able to help at recess, especially Thursdays and Fridays, that would be very much appreciated! No cooking experience is necessary, just come in and lend a hand. Tea, coffee and lunch is provided to all volunteers. Spend as long as you like - even an hour or two can make a difference to the smooth running of the day.

To put your name on our roster or find out more, please contact Rita on 9310 3407, call into the canteen or send an email to [email protected]. The canteen is available for students in Pre-Primary to year 6. Please note we are open Tuesday to Friday from 8:30am and cash orders must be placed at the canteen window by 9am. You are also able to place your order online by 8:50am each day via www.quickcliq.com.au.

Pre-Primary parents please do not order recess items or frozen lunch treats for your child as these cannot be delivered to the classroom. The menu is available on the school website, school stream app and the Quickcliq website. Hard copies are available to view at the canteen. Any new families unsure of the ordering process - please feel free to come to the canteen and have a chat to our amazing canteen manager Rita.

On Friday the 10th May the WLPS fundraising committee held another successful Mother's Day Stall and Raffle. Thank you to all those who gave donations and those who gave their time on the day to make it a huge

success, raising over $1,700 for the school. Special thanks to Fiona Di Prinzio, Jodie McArthur, Janette Roberts, Nin Rousset & Lisa Hasson.

A huge thank you to Tanya Walker from Sisterly Love Cakes for the beautiful cakes she provided for the raffle prizes. Congratulations to our lucky Raffle winners, Sophie H & Daniel B!

We hope all the Mums, Grandmothers and Carers had a great Mother's Day and enjoyed their lovely gifts.

Positions Vacant! We still have some opportunities available for parent and community members to get involved in our P&C. The following positions are still available and we really need some extra hands to help us out:

Vice President

School Banking Coordinator

Health, Safety & Sustainability Sub-Committee Convenor

Secretaries for the following Sub-Committees

Canteen

Uniform

Fundraising

Community Engagement

Health, Safety & Sustainability

Newsletter Editor, for this monthly P&C Newsletter

Our Vice President and Sub-Committee Secretary roles are not onerous. Our Vice President works with the Executive to help the P&C support our volunteers in the school community. Our sub-committee secretaries help the convener coordinate information from within the sub-committee. There are set templates for the Committees to use and information is recorded as bullet points. Please contact me at [email protected] or call 0401 393 791 if you are able to cover any of these positions. Without these roles we will be in a position where we cannot provide a school banking service, we will not be able to provide support to our school in areas such as Health and Safety and Community Engagement, and risk overworking the others that have already put their hand up to help.

President

ELECTION DAY SAUSAGE SIZZLE AND CAKE STALL

Calling all our school’s amazing bakers!!

This Saturday, May 18 is Election Day and the P&C is running a Sausage Sizzle and Cake Stall at the school. We would be grateful for donations of cakes, muffins and slices to sell at the stall. If you can help, items can be dropped off at the school canteen on Friday, May 17

th in the morning or early on the

day of the Election at our stall. Help is needed to flip the eggs and turn the sausages on the day. If you are able to assist please contact Libby at [email protected] We need to fill hour long slots between 7:30 and 1:30. Thanks in advance for your support. We look forward to seeing the School Community turn out to vote on Election day.

At West Leeming there are two voluntary contributions: 1. The School Contribution which is paid directly to the school for important teaching and learning resources ($60 per child). 2. The P&C Voluntary Contribution which is used by the parent body to support the delivery of education to our kids at West

Leeming Primary School. This is $30 per child, capped at $90 per family.

The funds raised by the P&C have meant that we could purchase class sets of iPads, refurbish the School Library and resurface the basketball court.

If you missed making this contribution on the school booklist, it’s not too late. Your contribution can still be paid using quickcliq, simply go to www.quickcliq.com.au. Don’t delay – pay yours today!
