PBS ContentLink is a lean and – at the same time – highly efficient interface for connecting SAP and compliant storage systems. During archiving, it enables data to be saved directly in an unchangeable format in the storage system. This means that the legal requirements regarding compliant data storage are fulfilled since data and documents can be made available at any time in their original format. In addition to the already well-established SAP ArchiveLink interface, PBS Content- Link now also simultaneously supports the new SAP-specific WebDAV 2.0 protocol. During storage, the data is extended to include metadata that can also include reten- tion and storage periods. By using the new SAP WebDAV interface, a future-proof implementation is also possible using the new ILM for SAP components Retention Manager and Retention Warehouse. By means of a post-processing program that reads ADK files and increases the retention values of the originals (that are linked to these documents) to the retention value of the ADK file, PBS ContentLink achieves consistent storage periods for documents and their originals. PBS ContentLink is not a classical Content Management system, yet it comprises numerous CMS functions and enables the implementation of an ILM-aware storage strategy when used in combination with SAP Document Management. Amongst other things, it provides a transparent insight into the document status and enables a centralized data administration in the SAP Document Management System. For many SAP customers the use of PBS ContentLink represents an inexpensive alter- native to a classical CMS system. The communication solution does not require its own database and is highly scala- ble due to its Web-based architecture. The installation effort is low and even with simple means it enables a highly reliable configuration. Administration is performed directly in the SAP system. PBS ContentLink does not require its own user inter- face. Furthermore, the solution is practically maintenance-free. Since recently, PBS ContentLink has provided automated performance optimization of ADK files in the ContentLink-specific cache with its Cache Optimizer. By integrating the PBS ContentReader it is now possible to retrieve records with linked documents via self-created indices using PBS ContentLink. Moreover, this can be done directly via the Web Browser and without SAP GUI. Connecting SAP Solutions and Storage Systems for Compliant Data Storage

Transcript of PBS ContenLink

  • PBS ContentLink is a lean and at the same time highly efficient interface for connecting SAP and compliant storage systems. During archiving, it enables data to be saved directly in an unchangeable format in the storage system. This means that the legal requirements regarding compliant data storage are fulfilled since data and documents can be made available at any time in their original format.

In addition to the already well-established SAP ArchiveLink interface, PBS Content-Link now also simultaneously supports the new SAP-specific WebDAV 2.0 protocol. During storage, the data is extended to include metadata that can also include reten-tion and storage periods.

For many SAP customers the use of PBS ContentLink represents an inexpensive alter-native to a classical CMS system.

The communication solution does not require its own database and is highly scala-ble due to its Web-based architecture. The installation effort is low and even with simple means it enables a highly reliable configuration. Administration is performed directly in the SAP system. PBS ContentLink does not require its own user inter-face.
