The term SAP FI-CA contract accounting refers to a subledger accounting that is especially designed for industries with many business partners and a high docu- ment volume. Among those industries are insurances, energy supply companies, telecommunication companies and public authorities. Using the contract account, these industries turn their attention to their specific processes, the system architec- ture, and to a smooth integration when processing a high volume of documents. In the case of mass data processing, they benefit from a reduction of memory space, acceleration of all critical activities such as postings and payments, as well as the automation of as many transactions and business processes as possible. The PBS archive add on CFICA ensures seamless access to all SAP FI-CA data and documents, and even to dunning histories and payment lots after SAP archiving has taken place. Using the PBS archive add on CFICA you can display and evaluate archi- ved SAP contract account documents together with SAP database data in the same way as when using the SAP standard transactions and reports. In addition to the documents (FI_MKKDOC), many SAP customers consider the dunning histories and payment lots the most important candidates for archiving in the FI-CA environment. The unlimited data access is realized thanks to an intelligent indexing concept. This concept is integrated optimally with SAP archiving. Independent Administration Interface PBS developed an independent interface that is identical to the other PBS archive add ons such as CISU for index setup and management. Thus PBS users are able to find their way immediately, but also new users benefit from the simple index setup. Document Flow The PBS archive add on CFICA is fully integrated in the general business concept so that links to other business processes are preserved even after archiving has been carried out. The document flow between the contract account documents and the financial accounting documents of SAP FI is displayed. In addition, it is also possi- ble to navigate to the original documents, for example a print document from IS-U invoicing. Extraction In addition to the online transactions, a large portfolio of extract programs to store SAP data on a data medium (such as for tax audit purposes) or to transfer it into subsequent systems (e.g. SAP NetWeaver BI) is available. The PBS archive add on CFICA can be purchased either as a component of the PBS archive add on CISU for the utility industry (IS-U) or as an independent solution. Interfaces An ABAP interface exists for direct and sequential access. PBS also provides a conversion tool that can be used to automatically extend ABAP SQL database accesses to include the PBS archive access.

Installation Installation is performed via SAP R/3 transport management. The PBS software is transferred via ftp to the SAP server and then installed.
Original Documents If a DMS or Content system for storing scanned original documents is being used, the PBS archive add on can be used to navigate from the SAP system to original documents even after SAP data archiving has taken place.
MemoryRequirement Comparedtothedatabasedata,theSAParchivedataiscompressedtoadegreeofabout80percent.ThememoryrequirementofthePBSindicescomprisesabout30percentofthatofthe SAP archive data. The SAP archive and PBS index data is stored in ADK format. The data is stored in the SAP file system, not in the SAP database. This ensures database relief and fast access to the archive data. Both types of data can also be stored directly in a storage system using PBS ContentLink.

Technical Data
Previous Knowledge SAP experience is a prerequisite. As the PBS transactions are identical to the SAP standard transactions, no special user training is necessary.
Authorization Concept All standard SAP authorizations are checked in all of the transactions and programs delivered by PBS. The authorizations for the PBS transaction codes have to be assigned additionally for the PBS archive add on CFICA.
Runtime The length of the runtime depends on the hardware. A million archived data records can be processed in about an hour using average hardware.
