Persian Carpet

Most distinguished Persian art and dates back to ancient Persia.

Can be divided into three groups:

• Farsh (sized anything greater than 6×4 feet)

• Qālicheh (meaning rug, sized 6×4 feet and smaller)

• Gelim (including Zilu, meaning rough carpet)

Carpet Weaving

dates back to 500 B.C., during the Achaemenid period.

A Persian carpet has a wide variety designs and styles.

A unique find in 1949 was discovered by Russian archeologists in the glaciers of Pazyryk Valley, in Altai Mountains in Siberia.
