Staging Date

• Client’s staging date – date AE duties come into

effect

• Number of employees in the largest PAYE

scheme used on 1st April 2012

• TPR will write to all employers to confirm the

staging date

• Staging Date Tool – Enter clients PAYE reference

to find out their staging date

Compliance and Enforcement

• If you don’t comply, you’ll face enforcement

action.

• Statutory notices then penalty notices.

• Further non compliance may result in court

action.

Keeping Records

• AE requirement – keep records as proof of

compliance

• Enable them to prove that they have complied

with their duties

• Good business sense - avoid disputes with

employees and reconcile pension contributions

• Minimum of 6 years (or 4 for opt outs)

• Some or all employees can be postponed for a

period of 3 months

• Many employers believe that they need do

nothing during this period

• Communications must be sent to all affected

employees within 6 weeks, otherwise

postponement is null and void and AE will need

to be backdated
