APSRC Accomplishments in 2015

We’d like to thank our partner Banfield Charitable Trust for providing us with some additional funds for pets in need of

medical treatment in 2015. Thank you, Banfield. The pets in Rockingham County really appreciated the helping hand. Visit

banfieldcharitabletrust.org to learn more about them. APSRC used every dollar of these grant funds to help 59 animals with

medical needs. Here are just a few stories of people and pets we were able to assist thanks to this grant.

Stories of People and Pets Assisted

• John receives a little over $700 per month disability income and is on Medicaid. He lost a leg and

contracted hepatitis C from the amputation. His little dog is his best friend. Because of limited funds,

when she became ill, he tried reducing her fever with over the counter meds and when she wouldn't

eat, he gave her Pedialyte for babies. He finally reached out for help and the Rockingham County

Humane Society referred him to us. We were able to help him get Dee-Dee treated by the vet and she

recovered.

• Kevin is legally blind and has a service dog. He receives income from disability and has Medicaid. The

Banfield Foundation grant enabled us to pay for some annual vaccinations that the dog needed.

These stories are just a few examples of how the Banfield grant funds enabled APSRC to provide help and

hope to otherwise hopeless situations.

Sampson’s Story

This beautiful boy is Sampson. He is the loyal protector of

a man who is disabled and bedridden and he is a constant

companion of the man’s primary care giver, his wife.

Sampson was chewing his tail raw and pulling out his fur.

His family tried to medicate his skin issues but his

condition continued to worsen. He was completely

miserable and needed to be seen by a vet.

His family needed help with the cost of the veterinary care

and the Animal Protection Society of Rockingham County

was able to help this family obtain that veterinary care.

With prescription medication and a new diet for his

allergies, Sampson is feeling much better.

This is a special family and one that APSRC was honored

to assist.
