Chairman’s Bit
Clive receives his 50 Year Badge from Chairman Jim Fleming
The weather has changed and we are coming into the ‘motoring’ season! By the time you read this we will have already enjoyed some interesting events with the St George’s Day Run and lunch almost upon us. There are also lots of other events to look forward to and, remember, you should book early to avoid disappointment.
For some of you that don’t know, I must report the sad passing of our President, Eric Barrass. I did send a letter of condolence on behalf of the section to the family via the
Hunt House and there is also a Book of Remembrance at HQ, which can be signed by all members. It will also be available for signing at the Annual Rally and will, eventually, be passed to Eric’s family. A Memorial Service is being organised and all members of the Club will be notified of the date and venue should they wish to attend.
Another piece of sad news is that Sir James Cayser, the President of the Scottish Section, died in early February. Those of you who attended the Scottish Rally in 2007 will remember him when he kindly invited us to his beautiful castle to see his amazing collection of cars. Sir James is famous for saying that one should never buy a Rolls-Royce because it costs far too much money to maintain! I did write a letter of condolence on behalf of the section to the Chairman of the Scottish section.
The New Members visit to the Hunt House went very well and a lot of members brought their Club cars. A big thank you to Jim Fleming, our Chairman for his introduction to the Club and to Philip Hall who conducted a whirlwind tour of the Hunt House. The day was rounded off by a lunch at a local pub and I am encouraged by the fact that some new members have already booked for future events.
Linda and I recently attended theAnnual Conference and the AGM and both events went well. I was pleased that Mark and Kay Warnock and Barry and Ruth Gallafent were able to join us. You can read more about the weekend in the July PP.
After the official business of the AGM on the Sunday afternoon, we were
