This year, we are going to do the following: Writing positive messages of support in the form of post-it notes and attaching them to the inside of the classroom door. When students leave the room they see the positive messages and are able enjoy a small pick-me-up throughout the day. Students will also be able to practice kindness skills through this activity. In addition, we will have the "Peace Begins with You" art exhibit this will allow students to submit their own artwork (paintings, digital art, photography, writing, etc.) that will encourage unity as well as messages of anti-violence and anti-bullying. Students will then be able to visit the gallery through gallery walks or during their free time. Art will be displayed in the Cybrary so students can express their creativity while reflecting on their shared experiences. During your 3rd period class, please have students create their positive post-it note message and place in their 3rd period classroom, and if any students are interested in creating a “Peace Begins with You” artwork piece, please have them do so and submit it to Mr. Der-Gevorkian or Mr. Davarhanian. ~~ New Info…Attention Juniors and Seniors who are possibly eligible for the State Seal of Biliteracy or the GUSD Bilingual Competency Award: Informational meeting about the Bilingual Competency Exam will take place on TODAY, 1/21 during lunch and during enrichment in the Cybrary. You must attend the meeting to sign up for the test! GUSD Bilingual Competency Exams will take place on Saturday February 29, 2020 at GHS. Armenian, Korean, and Tagalog will be from 8:00AM-12:00PM. Poetry Out Loud - Congratulations to Sona Keshishyan, Daniel Legita, and Manvel Muradyan for admirably representing Clark at the district's Poetry Out Loud competition Wednesday afternoon. These students memorized two poems each and presented the poems in front of an audience at our Board of Education this week. We are proud of them – WAY TO GO!

All males 17-18 years of age: Under federal law, virtually all men must register with Selective Service within 30 days of their

18th birthday. However, the Selective Service System now accepts early submission of registration information by 17-year-old

men. The Agency holds their registration information and automatically enters their data into the system when they turn 18. If you

don’t register, you will not qualify for federal financial aid (FAFSA), Cal-Grants, job training, or State/Federal jobs. Go on-line @

www.sss.gov.

Los Angeles Pediatric Society is sponsoring the 51st Annual Eve & Gene Black Summer Medical Career

Program (Free!) for students currently in 11th or 12th grade and born on or before 4/1/04 (check the various

facility options for older age requirements). This program is best described as a medical mentor program. Under the

supervision of a health care educator/medical facility coordinator, participants shadow various medical professionals

(nurse, nutritionist, pharmacist, lab technician, physician and/or medical specialist etc.). This is not an online

application process. Application is due by mail before February 17, 2020. Visit: www.lapedsoc.org for FAQ’s,

application, program documents, and all requirements. Letters of recommendation and an essay are required. Medical

facilities providing this program are located in Los Angeles/Santa Monica area; you will need to provide your own

transportation – check their website for all the exact details before you apply.
