Pathway is the name o the new wayndingsystem at Mott Cancer Center to help visitors

nd public destinations. It consists o pathways,landmarks, signs, maps and printed materials.

Just like using signs on a highway to help youtravel rom city to city, using Pathway helps guideyou to a destination.

Pathway makes it easy or you to help others ndtheir destination inside Mott Cancer Centersbuildings.

Te Pathway is the main artery o the system.It leads visitors rom building to building andlandmark to landmark until they reach theirdestination. Te Pathway is symbolized withrecurring compass symbols that are locatedon walls in main corridors.

All destinations are arranged in zones around thelandmarks. By directing to landmarks rst, andthen to individual destinations, directions remainsimple and easy to remember.

Signs at each landmark direct to destinations on

that foor and close to that landmark. In the caseo a landmark elevator, signs also direct todestinations on all foors accessed by thatlandmark elevator.

Giving Directions Using Pathway

Tere are our ideas to communicate to visitorswhen giving them directions:

1. Building name. ell visitors the name o thebuilding they are in and the valet name.

2. Pathway to landmark. Show them the Pathway

and tell them which landmark to use.3. Follow the signs. ell visitors when they arriveat their landmark to ollow the signs to theirdestination.

4. Always give the visitor a map.

Example:A visitor approaches the inormation desk in theClinic and asks or directions to the caeteria.

Te inormation desk attendant responds:

You are in the Clinic and you parked with theGold Valet. Follow the Pathway to Elevator C and
